About the CoP
The CoP is one of the major outcomes of the first joint project being implemented by FAO, IFAD and WFP, and funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation: Mainstreaming Food Loss Reduction Initiatives for Smallholders in Food-Deficit Areas (more info here).
The CoP provides an online discussion FORUM, resources (online libraries, databases, repositories with relevant materials), and links to partners. It is a dynamic platform that will facilitate information sharing and coordination, and it will be enriched with updated information on a regular basis.

This work is part of two affiliated projects funded by the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) in the framework of the Sustainable Food Systems (SFS) Programme, also known as 10-Year Framework for Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns (10YFP), which is a global multi-stakeholder partnership to accelerate the shift towards more sustainable food systems.
Food waste reduction fits into the One Planet network activities that aim to implement the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP), which supports the global shift to sustainable consumption and production and the achievement of SDG 12.
The project: Mainstreaming food loss reduction initiatives for smallholders in food deficit areas, was jointly implemented by the Rome-Based United Nations Agencies (RBA) FAO, IFAD and WFP. The project was funded by the Government of Switzerland (SDC) and sought to improve the food security and income-generation of smallholder farmers in food deficit areas through reduction of post-harvest food losses in targeted value chains.
By mobilizing the individual strengths of the three agencies, the joint project has generated an impact and stimulated Member Countries to take action to reduce food losses. The project is expected to be a model for future collaboration and upscaling of RBA collaboration.
