I joined Trans Australia Airlines in 1969 and spent the next 31 years in the Airline Industry. I held management positions in Air Cargo, Airport Management and State and Commercial Management positions.
Retirement in 2000 saw a move to the beautiful Blue Mountains in New South Wales where my wife and I have a house and a large cool climate garden. Our three children and six grandchildren often visit, especially in winter to enjoy the odd snow fall.
In 2010 I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia and not given a great chance of survival. However after seven rounds of chemo therapy and a stem cell transplant from my eldest son I am in remission. This has changed my outlook on life and I now concentrate on doing the things I enjoy; writing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
