It was bad enough that construction companies should have worked so hard to ensure that people with the willingness to insist on safe working conditions were kept off sites, and out of work. But the police collusion in these efforts to increase profits at the expense of workers’ safety, lives even, fundamentally changed my understanding of the nature of the society in which I have lived for the last 58 years. I read up extensively on this darker site of Britiain's recent history and this novel is the resulting exploration of our long history of highly politicised undercover policing.view less
