What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a great friends-to-lovers romance with humor, steamy scenes, and a beautiful HEA ending. The main characters have unique personalities and a strong bond as friends. However, some readers found the female character, Kinsley, to be annoying and lacking boundaries. Despite this, the book is still considered a cute and enjoyable story overall. Some readers even expressed a desire for a sequel continuing Maddox and Kinsley's story. Overall, this book is highly recommended for fans of friends-to-lovers tropes.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Great story, I love ALMOST every bit of it. But my god Kinsley was sooooo annoying in every way possible that it was almost unbearable.
Spoilers
Moving into HIS apartment and then throwing all his shit out. Making a mess of his place. Not respecting the rules he made for her staying there. Playing dumb when he tries to talk to her about it. All the crying. Ugh she is awful and really ruins some parts of the story for me personally.3 people found this helpful
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I skipped every part the female character spoke. Love the love story hate her extreme personality. She sure did try to impose her ways on him and I wish I could smack her a bit. AnNoying

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I Love the story and the ending! Worth the read!!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Probably one of the best books I've read in a while.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really enjoyed!
Friends to lovers, lots of sexy details and the main man sounds so seductive.
9.5 - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I am honestly starting to think Meghan doesn’t like women. Or she just doesn’t know how to write a good fully rounded women. For example this book, the bridesmaid, and few others. The female protagonist are extremely annoying that don’t have any consideration of anyone else.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Made me laugh and cry it was so good. Just so perfect.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Let me start off by saying that I think Maddox might be my favorite Rebel boy. Not only is he my favorite, but the spice in this book was NEXT LEVEL. This book also WRECKED ME. I'm clearly feeling all the emotions. I'm happy to always be gifted an HEA at the end of a Meghan Quinn novel, but until you get there you're just constantly on the edge of your set, with your heart in your hands. I LOVED this book, and the narration was incredible!

…and 10 years later she regrets staying.
If you’ve ever been in an abusive relationship, the end of this story will make you slightly sick to your stomach.
All romance died the minute she takes him back. “He might have hurt me… but he has been hurt worse…he needs someone…”
Gross. Codependency at its worst.
FMC is pathetic.
MMC is pathetic.
Writing is fine. Narration is fine.
Story is a lesson in how the world glorifies abuse. It’s not romantic. It’s horrifying. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I mostly enjoyed this story and I always love Meghan’s books however this was a bit different…Loved the narration… So when I finished this audio, I came to review section just to see if others felt the same about the FMC… and yup, I was not the only one being annoyed with her character.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book had me in stitch’s. I accidentally read out of order but I’m definitely going back to read the rest of the series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Out of these 4 friends’ stories Scribd doesn’t give us the Audibook on Jason’s story, The Lineup, why?! ???
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The personalities of the main characters are unique. Together with the crazy combo of the trade. Great read! Had a lot of fun! Looking forward to Lincoln’s story or is there 1 already??
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book had me laughing out loud, steamy sexy scenes…. loving friendship with a beautiful HEA ending.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5No one writes a heart-wrenching, sexy romantic comedy like Meghan Quinn. Hands down my favorite romance novelist. This book was everything I wanted it to be and more. It is laugh-out-loud hilarious and tear-jerkingly emotional. Not to mention the heat. Don’t be overwhelmed by the length of this book. It was necessary. I still wanted more in the end.
If you like this, read Bossman Bridegroom next. My absolute favorite book by her. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Kinsley really ruined the book for me she was way to annoying. The male lead was cool and I enjoyed his parts of the book but once it would switch to the female I was not interested. Overall decent book.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a great story! I adored these characters and would love a sequel continuing Maddox and Kinsley’s story. I did not want this one to end!
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Kinsley is the absolute worst. She has no respect for boundaries and tries to be quirky and cute. I love Meghan Quinn FMC normally but this is the worst one I’ve ever read

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5(Maddox & Kinsley): TRIGGERS: alcohol abuse, child abuse. such an awesome friends-to lovers story. Maddox & Kinsley have been best friends since the fifth grade. Maddox is the pitcher for a pro baseball team and Kinsley works at getting homes for animals in shelters. She gets an offer for a job in the same city as Maddox and he offers to let her live with him so she can save money. I loved the relationship these two had, they have an extremely strong bond as friends. For me personally, I think MQ made Kinsley a little TOO annoying with the whole vegan, recycling and bamboo toothbrush thing. It was a little much. The backstory was written beautifully, I loved how they were so intertwined with each other instead of having two separate stories. The story also has that moment that breaks your heart and MQ really goes for it. I wished though that there was some resolution with his brother, like maybe a final face off. I really did like this book.
