Brighton Maker Faire 2015 line up announced

If you haven’t been to the Brighton Mini Maker Faire yet, then where have you been for the past four years? This year, for the fifth consecutive year, punters coming to the faire will have the chance to play around with all sorts of crafts, electronics, felt making, mosaics, lego robotics, polymer clay, jewellery, glass fusing, 3D printing… you name it and I bet you will be able to find it.

Here is a day for your diary. Don’t miss it as you might regret it!

It’s the biggest festival combining arts, craft, science and technology in the South East. It was the first ‘Mini’ Maker Faire in the UK and it’s still the biggest in the country. More than 3,000 people came to the Corn Exchange last year to experience the fascinating mix of mind-boggling creations and inventions.

This year’s line up is looking great! More than 100 projects will be on display for you to touch, test, try, smell, and maybe even eat. There will be new games such as Hammer Pong and LazerArcade, which are very likely to grab little and big people’s attention. The makers describe their own creations as: “A laser powered large shooting gallery crossed with an arcade game” and “a crazy mash-up between a fairground ‘Test Your Strength’ sideshow, the old Pong TV game and some kind of bizarre accident involving a Tron Lightcycle getting tangled up in high voltage cables.”

If you think that this is not worth seeing or experiencing then you are reading the wrong blog post. If you like the sound of it, then get your advance tickets for adults, which are only £7 as the door price will be £9 (“Pay What You Can” tickets are no longer available). Kids under 16 go in for free.

Check out the Brighton Mini Maker Faire website for more details about this year’s line up. The event is part of the Brighton Digital Festival, a month-long celebration of digital culture throughout September in Brighton.
