In the sneak peek pictures, the crew can be seen standing on the icy lake with a car stuck headfirst in to the ice.
The dramatic preview gives a hint at what's to come in February as the soap promises an exciting and treacherous start to the month for some of the village's beloved characters.
The gripping story line features a terrifying car crash, with multiple lives hanging in the balance.
In a haunting flash-forward sequence, released earlier this month, viewers glimpsed a desperate hand breaking through the frozen water, grasping for survival.
But fans are still none the wiser as to the identity of the car crash victim.

The spectacular series of stunts, filmed during night shoots before Christmas, required the expertise of a specialist special effects company to create a perilous frozen lake at the village's edge.
Whilst the production team remains tight-lipped about which characters are involved in the dramatic scenes, Emmerdale Producer Laura Shaw offers some insight:
'With winter nights having drawn in, our audience are enjoying cosy nights indoors whilst our fantastic team at Emmerdale have been recording gripping drama to bring to their screens.
'The stunning backdrop of the village, from its rugged woodland to its wilder landscapes, set the perfect stage for what's to come.
'I'm thrilled for our audience to experience these episodes as they unfold, taking them on a chilling—quite literally—and perilous journey across the frozen ice.'
Producers are hoping the 'nightmare' scenes will have a 'real impact' with soap fans when they air next month.
One soap insider told The Sun: 'The bosses want viewers to have their hearts in their mouths when they see the car career off the road and into the water.
'It's a nightmare scenario and everything was done to make sure this was a scene with real impact. Hours were spent creating a layer of ice, then the actors spent hours out on the frozen field in the pitch black trying to do the storyline justice.
