Netflix fans were left gasping 'it was all a lie!' when they found out how one BAFTA award-winning Netflix film was made after incredible behind-the-scene footage went viral.

Brazilian limited series, Senna, which is based on a true story, has been hailed for its 'superb acting' as it follows the life of legendary racing driver Ayrton Senna.

Ayrton died in a racing accident after a celebrated career in the sport and claimed three world championships. 

The six-episode drama features exhilarating racing scenes on various tracks across the globe.

But fans were in shock after behind-the-scenes footage showing how the filmmakers created those scenes using greenscreen and VFX in post-production went viral on X.

A fan wrote in Portuguese: 'It was all a lie!'

'Now I doubt if even Formula 1 is real,' another post read.

A third said: 'The hard workers are actually the crew.'

While a fourth chimed in: 'Glad I watched the show first otherwise this would have ruined it for me.'

 A fan wrote a post on social media site X in Portuguese that said: 'It was all a lie!'

It comes after the moving scenes of the Ayrton's life in the film brought fans to tears as they confessed that they 'cried a lot' and dubbed it 'absolutely magnificent'. 

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one penned: '@NetflixBrasil Thank you for this masterpiece series called #Senna. Simply exciting and grand. Which does justice to our eternal hero. Congratulations.'

The series kicks off when Ayrton moved to England to compete in Formula Ford and followed his life through to his fatal accident during the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola, Italy.

The sportsman was considered to be fastest race car driver of all time as he won three F1 world titles, 41 victories, 65 pole positions, and 80 podiums between 1984 and 1994.

Senna stars Gabriel Leone as Ayrton, Kaya Scodelario as Laura, and Pamela Tome as Xuxa Meneghel. 

Laura is a British-Brazilian racing reporter who meets Ayrton Senna while he's racing in Formula Ford. 

Xuxa is a Brazilian TV presenter, actress, singer and businesswoman who had a relationship with Ayrton Senna. 

Senna is now available to stream on Netflix UK.
