UPDATED:

A car stolen in Wilkes-Barre earlier this week was found partially submerged in the Lackawanna River on Thursday morning, Duryea police said.

The red Hyundai sedan was discovered unoccupied in the river near Coxton Road and the Main Street underpass around 7:20 a.m., police said.

The car had been reported stolen in Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

A tow truck impounded the car for processing with the assistance of the Germania Hose Company’s scuba team.

The investigation was ongoing.
