Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly Program (EISEP)
EISEP assists older people who need help with daily activities (such as bathing, dressing, cooking and shopping), who want to remain at home and are not eligible for Medicaid. The program’s case managers help older people and their families to coordinate services which may be needed in the home. These may include personal care and housekeeping aide services, respite time for caregivers and other services available in the community.
Our EISEP consumer-directed option gives you more choices in meeting your care needs and help you to remain independent, healthy, and safe. You can choose who you hire for your care, including friends and eligible family members. You can also choose how, when, where your services are provided. A fiscal intermediary agency will handle insurance, payroll and tax functions on your behalf.
The EISEP program requires cost sharing according to a sliding scale reflecting the participant’s income. For more information call the Office for the Aging at 315-253-1226.
Home Helpers
If you would like to hire someone directly to provide a service, Home Helpers maintains a list of individuals who are available to provide services in your home but who are not affiliated with an agency. After your request is taken, you will be sent a list of names to choose from. All arrangements regarding pay and responsibilities are handled between you and the person you hire.
