Kim Kardashian's Betty Boop Bob Put a Retro Spin on Fall's Coolest Cut

I never thought I'd be writing about Kim Kardashian, Betty Boop, and Princess Diana all in one sentence, but here we are! Kardashian arrived at the LACMA Gala over the weekend with a flippy bob that was giving Betty Boop vibes, paired with a white Gucci gown and Lady Di's pendant.

Yes, we know that's a lot to unpack. On Saturday, November 2, the LACMA Arts and Film Gala took over the museum in Los Angeles with appearances from Cara Delevingne, Charli XCX and Kardashian all in Gucci ensembles (the brand is the main sponsor of the event). For the occasion, the multi-hyphenate styled a plunging white gown with lots of jewels and opted to style her new flippy bob in a structured 'Betty Boop' style.

Crafted by hairstylist Chris Appleton, we'd wager Kardashian's bob had to have taken inspiration from the retro cartoon. Her hair was swept to the side with a singular front piece shaped into a curl that rested on her forehead, just like classic character. The rest of her strands were curled upward into a classic flippy bob that had lots of shape and volume.

Appleton posted a breakdown of the look on his Instagram, calling it a "short and sweet" style in his caption. He used Bellami hair extensions cut to shoulder length and curled them with a flip to get the bouncy ends. The look was finished with lots of hairspray.

Makeup artist Rokael Lizama created a quintessential Kim glam for the night, opting for a winged out smoky eye with long wispy lashes, pinky blushed cheeks, and a nude lip look (Lizama used SKKN by Kim's new Silk Matte Lip Color in the shade 02, btw).

Oh, and we can't forget about the royal jewels. Princess Diana once wore the same Garrad pendant to a 1987 charity event—of course, Kardashian put her own spin on the piece of fashion history, layering on a pearl choker to pair with the necklace.
