Area Cross-Country: Patriots sweep home invite

Six area cross-country teams in action Thursday, Sept. 5.

CROSSLAKE — Pequot Lakes’ Connor Jansen won with a time of 18:11.23 as the Patriot boys won the Pequot Lakes Invitational Thursday, Sept. 5.

Gus McKenna finished second for the Pequot boys while James Johnson placed third.

AJ Westin led the Crosby-Ironton boys with a fourth-place finish while Peter Bartels captured fifth.

Jayce Compton paced Pine River-Backus with a 10th-place finish while Parker Pallansch was the top finisher for Pillager at 16th place.

Kyra Rohrbach won with a time of 20:53.35 to help the Pequot girls to a first-place team finish. Erika English added a third-place finish for Pequot.

Anna Westin placed second to lead the C-I girls and Maria Ringhand finished fifth.

Alainna Dobson paced Pillager with a fourth-place finish while Tana Borland placed seventh for P-RB.

Little Falls girls net 5th

DETROIT LAKES — Malin Youngberg recorded a tenth-place finish with a time of 20:19.6 for the Little Falls girls to help the team to a fifth-place finish at the Detroit Lakes Invite Thursday, Sept. 5.

Leah Couture added a 28th place finish for the girls.

The 11th place Flyer boys were paced by Blake Nolan, who finished 48th.

PINE CITY — Quinn Gruber placed sixth and Chloe Skwira 16th for the Pierz Pioneers girls as they finished third in the Pine City Invite Thursday, Sept. 5.

Wyatt Betsinger recorded third for the Pierz boys as they placed fourth. Nathan Tax finished in 16th and Clara Tax was in 18th.

Pierz next runs at the Mora Invite at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10.
