  • I thought I'd ask you since you seem to know about this...I got some 2,4-D Amine from Alligare. I mixed it at 3 oz per gallon. After I spray, do I need to wait a while before I let my chickens out to free range? If so, how long? I weed whacked the weeds on the patio and was going to spray the cut stems that are left but now I'm wondering if it will work now that there are no leaves on them.

No, it won't work on cut stems. Glyphosate would work on the fresh cut stems, but 2-4D works by penetrating the leaf tissue and interacting with the sun to speed up the life span of the leaf. It grows so fast it dies.

Once 2-4D dries, it's pretty safe. But if there is anything that was sprayed that your chickens normally eat, it'd be best to wait a few weeks for the 2-4D to break down and leave the environment.
Hi, I was just reading your comments on the use of ELECTOR PSP for Scaly leg mites that you posted in 2018. You mentioned soaking their legs for 10 minutes using 1/2 Tsp in water. How much water? Are you still doing this treatment? Do you apply Vaseline or anything to the legs afterwards? My rooster has a bad case of SLM. Thanks for your help.

Don't worry, I have so many other things cooking, changing my icon/avatar isn't going to come up any time soon.
Hello how are you I just wanted to know how do I give my hen this pill they are big .. lol

It's no harder than prying open the beak and shoving it into the mouth far enough back so it doesn't fall out. That's the hard part. The easy part is the hen swallowing it.
