I looked for a knitting thread but couldn't find any so I decided to make my own! I have only started knitting this past year but I love it! I do find it a little harder that crocheting but it is slowly getting easier. So far I have made 3 pairs of slippers, and am currently working on a shawl that to me is very complex. It consists of yarn overs, Nupps, and like 4 different kinds of decreases. Thankfully I am on my third round of the repeats so I hope I will be able to finish it.

Bit worried cause my quail hasn't hatched out yet temperature and humidity is fine . I have tapped the egg gently and it does tap back not straight away but it's there I can hear it . When do they hatch after hearing this tapping?

Hi all. I am dealing with a mite infestation and I bought permethrin powder. I don’t know really how to use it. Is it safe to put directly on the birds? And if so, how much per bird? Do I mix it with some thing? I was thinking, maybe I needed to use diatomaceous earth and sprinkle permethrin into that and then dust the birds… So as to maybe dilute the potency of the powder itself? This is the first chicken I’ve had be egg bound. It noticed it last night when I went to go lick them up for the night. She won’t stand but will eat and drink. I have her soaking in an epson salt bath. Is there anything else yall suggest?

My birds haven't layed a single egg since Hurricane Milton came through. It was a very scary storm. I secured the coop, thank God the coop didn't have any debris come down on it. I have been spoiling them rotten, spending more time with them, playing music even. My girls are 3 years old and one hatched 2 chicks that are 3 months old now. I'm going to have to buy store bought eggs or forget baking this holiday season. What can I do to get them laying again?

OK, before I get the common answer that "sex is determined in the egg", let me state that I know this, what I am interested in is whether one sex can survive a particular temp better than the other, resulting in for instance more "dead in shell" male eggs.

If anyone can tell me if any of these are roosters. They are all around 11-13 weeks of age. I’ve already been told the barred rock and orange and white Easter egger are males but open to comments. They were all sold to me as hens except the silkie which was straight run though I am cautiously optimistic she is a she.

I think I made one a while ago but I think it’s time for a new one!!! So chat about whatever you want!! Within BYC rules of course. But yeah.

This is going to be all chicken diseases, in order of A-Z. This is mostly for my own reference, but hopefully it may help someone else. Every day or so i'll do a new disease, although it probably wont be consistent.
So i will start with A: Aflatoxicosis in the next post and then move onto the next and so on…
(Just a side note: I will research before posting about any disease, to avoid any misinformations.)

Hi chicken lovers! I took this sweet boy in two days ago at a discounted price due to an injury he received as a baby. He is now 3 months old and I'm curious on if he will possibly get feathering back when he gets his first molt. It looks healed but do I need to be doctoring it anything?

I've been incubating 2 indian runner duck eggs for 19 days and I took the eggs out for their 30 minute cool down and accidentally fell asleep. I placed the eggs in warm water to try warm them up and then put them back in the incubator. I candled them quickly and can still see all the veins but no movement have I killed these poor babies

I was looking for Cornish Chickens earlier this year. I had a terrible time trying to find them through breeders all across the USA. There are none. At least, there are none that are publicly mentioned on any website that lists breeders of chicken breeds. The ones I found were no longer breeding/selling them. I only found two hatcheries that sell any variety of Cornish, and both of them had nearly non-existent availability for chicks. I only saw Dark and White Laced Red Cornish.

For the past year I've been learning how to bake yeast breads here at home. It's been challenging and rewarding (when it all comes together right, lol).

Soooo. Last night I was putting up my chickens when my dachshund went into a hole under the coop. The hole runs lengthen wise and could hear her barking like crazy, she wouldn't come out so I had my brother try to get her out.
