Trail reviews for Yosemite Valley
Trail loop close so had to go backtrack same way The stone stairs kinda dangerous when going down
Everything everyone else has said recently was true. The hike down was especially hard on the knees.
Off season is best. Harness + prusik not with a sling for extension. Go when there’s no snow. Helmet would be recommended if it’s windy, cuz ice sometimes gets blown down as your climbing the cables. Not for the faint of heart but definitely worth the experience. Also, you bypass the almost-impossible lottery system. Pro tip: just keep going and trust your prusik :) I think 2 liters is sufficient, and a lunch snack with maybe 3-4 snack items is sufficient for a 12 hour hike.
Restroom are closed for the season so better do it at the bathroom at the trail head
This is a great little hike, even in the fall when the waterfall is not running.
Took the mist trail up and the jmt down. The jmt is icy in some places up top at the moment.
