Trail reviews for Archangel Falls
Absolutely worth the effort to hike this trail. I agree with other people that say once you commit to getting wet, the trail is easier. Trying to avoid the river going up, we did more bouldering, but on the way down, we spent almost the entire time in the river and it was so much faster. The terrain is so unique and so nice to be on a trail without a ton of people like the narrows
Great canyoneering route. Rappels were straightforward, but I'd recommend bringing webbing and quicklinks because I did set up one anchor. We used gaia and all trails to navigate, along with a paper map with route description from the Zion visitor center. The route description paper map was very helpful to just confirm where we were! Rented wetsuits and canyoneering boots from a local outfitter, was very necessary in some of the shady swims as the water was pretty cold. One of the best hikes I've ever done and the rappels were really fun and short (I believe there were 4-5 shorter than 30 feet). Beautiful diverse scenery throughout. Don't miss the exit - be sure to pay attention once you pass the subway and are making your way along the river, past the dinosaur tracks. Hike out is so long, but was worth it for the most incredible experience. Took a total of 10 hours.
