One (of many) things that Trader Joe's has mastered is the art of creating exciting, flavorful, and fun seasonal products that fly off the shelves almost instantly. One way the store remains so innovative is by taking their trademark spices like Everything But the Bagel Sesame Seasoning and Everything but the Elote Seasoning Blend, and incorporating them into chipscheeses, and more. So it was no surprise to learn that after another year of the store's iconic Stuffing Seasoned Kettle Chips flying off the shelves, the store has released its latest popcorn creation just ahead of the holidays: Thanksgiving Stuffing Seasoned Popcorn.

What Is Trader Joe's Thanksgiving Stuffing Seasoned Popcorn?

Similar to the widely crowd pleasing Stuffing Seasoned Kettle Chips the store can't keep on shelves, this popcorn is coated with a savory salt blend of spices you'd experience with a classic stuffing recipe, including thyme, sage, parsley, celery seed, and black pepper. Turmeric also gives the snack a golden hue. It's light, airy, and each kernel has a pop of timeless stuffing flavor. At a price of $2.99 per five-ounce bag, this snack is definitely worth trying, and be sure to do so soon, because if I've learned anything as an avid Trader Joe's shopper, intriguing seasonal products like this don't stay on the shelves for long—and who doesn't want to try anything and everything that claims to taste like bite after bite of comforting Thanksgiving stuffing?

Does Trader Joe’s Thanksgiving Stuffing Seasoned Popcorn Live Up to the Hype?

The internet appears to be divided about this popcorn. While some shoppers claim that it's delicious and unexpected, others claim that it's just ok, citing it as too salty and over spiced. One thing is unanimous: the flavors of this popcorn do justice to the flavors of a classic Thanksgiving stuffing recipe, hitting each note of herb, spice, salt and pepper. So stuffing lovers are bound to find some joy in trying this holiday popcorn creation. If you're looking to mix things up, Trader Joe's suggests serving the popcorn with dried cranberries and candied pecans to create a sweet and salty snack mix, while some stuffing-lover shoppers who prefer to stick to the savory, stuffing side of things suggest serving the popcorn with baby pretzels and mixed nuts. Nevertheless, it has been rolling out of stores quickly since hitting shelves this week, so if you're looking to get your hands on a bag and try it out for yourself, sooner rather than later is your best bet!

I Tried Trader Joe's Thanksgiving Stuffing Seasoned Popcorn

I couldn't properly write about this new popcorn without trying it for myself. This snack does serve up all the aromatics and flavors of classic Thanksgiving stuffing: thyme, parsley, sage, celery seed, and salt. However, it leaves a lot to be desired. It's not savory, rich, or comforting like I would expect something coated in Thanksgiving stuffing seasoning to be. I'm someone who loves popcorn, stuffing, and a lot of herbs infused into all types of recipes, but here, I feel as though I'm snacking on dried herbs from my pantry just sprinkled over popcorn. It has a dry texture and sort of stale and lackluster flavor. It even makes the texture of the popcorn seem rather stale. I'm also getting a raw garlic flavor and aftertaste as I snack on this, which isn't enjoyable.

That being said, I'll stick to keeping our pantry stocked with Trader Joe's Stuffing Seasoned Kettle Chips this season, as they are much more delicious than this new product. Unlike this popcorn, which is on the dry side and tastes like it's coated in packaged dry stuffing seasoning before the flavors have had a chance to cook down and come together, the oils of the kettle chips bring out a much richer and more savory, fully cooked stuffing flavor. You won't hear me say this often, but this is one Trader Joe's snack I won't be buying again. But to each their own! Try Trader Joe's Stuffing Seasoned Popcorn out for yourself, because you may absolutely love it, and it won't be on shelves for long.
