Eating in Italy is an art form. The Italians are known for taking seasonal, fresh ingredients and turning them into simple, absolutely delicious meals. We can do that here in the United States, too, and we should.

We watch celebrities do it all the time. When Ina Garten takes fresh summer cucumbers and turns them into a salad, we pay attention. When Alton Brown takes fresh cherries and turns them into the easiest dessert ever, we realize we can do that as well. And when Julia Child does just about anything with food, even something as simple as roasting a chicken with vegetables, we head to the kitchen to emulate her method.

Little did we know that actor Stanley Tucci, who played Child’s husband in the 2009 movie “Julie & Julia”, would one day be someone we turn to for culinary tips and tricks too.

Stanley Tucci’s 3-Ingredient Frittata

Tucci recently shared a video on Instagram of how he and his family ate while on vacation in Umbria last summer. “We’re making lunches at home and going out to dinner for the most part,” he said in the video, which seems like a fantastic way to eat in Italy.

He then went on to highlight two frittatas he made. One with eggs, Parmesan, and potatoes. The other one was made with eggs, Parmesan, potatoes, and Tropea onions he discovered at the store. The kicker? He couldn't find it for the video, but a black truffle that he planned to shave on top of the frittatas.

The lunch included an array of antipasti he assembled, including a caprese salad and two types of anchovies. It was all so simple and so fresh, and aside from the truffle, so easily reproducible.

How to Make a Frittata

Frittatas are incredibly easy to make. Beat together eggs and milk as your foundation, then you can add pretty much anything you want from there, making this the perfect dish to use with whatever is in season or leftovers in the fridge. Need some more inspiration? Try this Spinach and Potato Frittata, which would be perfect for fall when fresh spinach starts to fill the farmers' markets again. When spring rolls around, try something with more delicate vegetables like this Spring Vegetable Frittata with leek and asparagus.

Whether you're adding vegetables, bits of bacon, zucchini flowers, or cheese, the possibilities are truly endless. Frittatas are the ultimate clear-your-fridge kind of meal. Just add a simple salad. Maybe a bottle of wine? Stanley would be proud.
