Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 36 servings

  • 2 (16 ounce) packages Regular Flavor Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage

  • 4 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose baking mix

  • ½ cup finely chopped onion

  • ½ cup finely chopped celery

  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic (Optional)

  • 2 teaspoons black pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

  2. Combine sausage, cheese, baking mix, onion, celery, garlic, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl; stir well until combined. Form into balls about 1-inch in diameter; place on an ungreased baking sheet.

  3. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 20 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (71 degrees C). Cool on the pan for 5 minutes before serving with cocktail forks or toothpicks.

To Cook From Frozen:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C); allow frozen sausage balls to thaw on a baking sheet while the oven preheats. Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 25 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (71 degrees C).

Variation:

For a firmer texture, add 3 cups baking mix and 2 cups shredded cheese.
