Tamarind Maple Whiskey Sour

Tamarind lends a rich flavor, with notes of raisin and dried fruit, to this longtime staple, complemented by the sweetness of the maple whiskey. Tamarind nectar concentrate can be found in the frozen section of most international markets. For a smoky twist, try using smoked maple bourbon whiskey, such as Knob Creek®. Garnish with a slice of lemon and a Luxardo® cherry.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 1 servings

  • 2 cups ice, divided

  • 2 fluid ounces maple whiskey (such as Crown Royal Maple®)

  • 1 fluid ounce tamarind nectar frozen concentrate (such as Goya®)

  • 1 fluid ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice

Directions

  1. Combine 1 cup of ice, whiskey, tamarind concentrate, and lemon juice in a shaker. Cover and shake until the shaker is frosty, about 30 seconds.

  2. Fill a rocks glasses with remaining ice and strain cocktail over. Serve immediately.

Cook's Note:

If you cannot find frozen tamarind nectar concentrate, unsweetened tamarind concentrate (non-refrigerated) can be found in Asian markets. You will need to add about 1/2 ounce of simple syrup since it is unsweetened.
