Original recipe (1X) yields 8 servings 1 pound ground beef 1 small onion, finely chopped 1 clove garlic, finely chopped 4 cups water 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce 2 tablespoons beef base 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon ground black pepper ½ teaspoon celery salt ¼ teaspoon ground marjoram 5 large carrots, cut into rounds 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed 1 cup green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons water, or more as needed Directions Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef, onion, and garlic in the hot skillet until beef is browned and crumbly and onion is translucent, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease. Stir in 4 cups water, tomato sauce, beef base, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, celery salt, and marjoram; bring to a simmer. Add carrots and continue to simmer until tender, about 35 minutes. Add potatoes and green beans, simmer until tender, about 15 minutes. Mix flour and 2 tablespoons water together in a small bowl until no lumps remain; add more water if necessary.
