Starry Is Bringing Back a Fan-Favorite Discontinued Sierra Mist Flavor

It's the first new flavor for Starry.

Soda fans will likely never forget when PepsiCo launched its new lemon-lime-flavored soda, Starry, in 2023. The new brand's arrival didn't happen because PepsiCo had no lemon-lime soda to compete with Coca-Cola’s Sprite. Starry’s debut meant the company was quietly discontinuing Sierra Mist after over 20 years on shelves.

Sierra Mist’s discontinuation took with it all the beloved flavors of the soda, including Cranberry Splash, Undercover Orange, and Ruby Splash. However, after nearly two years on the market, Starry is releasing its first-ever limited-edition flavor just in time for the holidays. And, yes, it’s an old Sierra Mist favorite.

Starry Releases New Starry Cranberry Blizz

The first flavor addition to the soda’s new era is Starry Cranberry Blizz. The new holiday flavor is similar to the discontinued Cranberry Splash in that it adds tart, tangy cranberry flavors to the lemon-lime soda. However, it is slightly different than the beloved Sierra Mist in the ways Starry is—Starry’s recipe has more citrus flavors and a “cleaner, crisp finish,” according to PepsiCo.

Additionally, Starry Cranberry Blizz is only available in the zero-sugar variety—unlike Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash, which featured both regular and zero-sugar options, as well as traditional Starry.

Starry Cranberry Blizz officially hits shelves on Nov. 4, where it will be sold in both 12-pack cans and 2-liter bottles at retailers nationwide for a limited time.

This news comes a few days after Sprite announced the return of its Winter Spiced Cranberry holiday flavor. Fans on Reddit have called out that they preferred Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash to the spiced cranberry Sprite. So, the new Starry Cranberry Blizz should hopefully fit the bill in replacing the discontinued favorite.

"The greatest seasonal soda pop of ALL TIME, shamefully discontinued. BRING IT BACK," one Reddit user posted alongside a photo of Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash.

To which Starry replied, "Maybe we will."

If you can’t wait until Nov. 4 to try Cranberry Starry, you won’t have to. KFC released a new lineup of cranberry-flavored PepsiCo products earlier this month. You can add cranberry-flavored syrup to any of KFC’s beverages, including Starry, Pepsi, Sweet Lightning Mountain Dew, and lemonade, for a limited time.

Between the new Starry Cranberry Blizz and 7Up Shirley Temple—plus Canada Dry’s returning cranberry and blackberry ginger ales—our holiday drink options just keep getting better and better.
