The second you started building your mini pizza or cracker sandwich, you were the object of envy to all the other students. And, let’s be honest, that universal moment is probably why so many of us Lunchables-loving kids turned into charcuterie board-loving adults. Lunchables has been serving up its classic buildable creations for years, but this month, it’s branching out of the fridge section and into the freezer section for the first time ever. The brand, which is owned by Kraft Heinz, is releasing its all-new line of heat-and-eat Lunchables Grilled Cheesies. Lunchables The Grilled Cheesies, which are frozen prepared grilled cheese sandwiches, will be available in two flavors: Original and Pepperoni Pizza. Both sandwiches feature two slices of crispy bread topped with melty Kraft Singles—and the Pepperoni Pizza sandwich also includes the same pepperoni found in Lunchables’ beloved pizza packs. The sandwiches are meant to be heated for 60 seconds in the microwave, which Kraft Heinz says will give them a pan-like crisp without the need for the stovetop. We know what you’re thinking—how can the microwave do that? And it’s all thanks to Kraft Heinz’s latest technology: 360CRISP. The technology is in the microwavable packaging and is meant to give you crunchy products just like you'd get from the stove or oven, but in the microwave so kids can easily make the Grilled Cheesies themselves. Kraft Heinz is rolling out the new technology with the release of Lunchables Grilled Cheesies this month, but the company says it has plans to bring the tech to four other “iconic brands” by the end of 2024. Lunchables' new Grilled Cheesies are rolling out to select grocery stores nationwide beginning this month, where you’ll find a box of two for about $4.99. Kraft Heinz has not released a list of retailers that will stock its Lunchables Grilled Cheesies, but we’d imagine you can grab them at big-name stores that already carry Lunchables. With this new microwave technology that makes school lunch, work lunch, and even late-night snack time extra easy, we can’t wait to see the other frozen products Kraft Heinz rolls out in the next year.
