Whether you’re a gymnastics, tennis, or—my personal favorite—swimming stan, there’s so much to take in during the grand event. And with Paris being the backdrop of the Olympics, athletes have much to take in, too, from the sights and smells to the delicious food. But even with all the choices provided to them, some athletes decide to stick to their tried and true food combos. This sentiment seems to be true for seven-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky. Katie Ledecky's Daily Oatmeal Breakfast While most might assume that to be an Olympic-level swimmer, you have to fuel up with lots of food before jumping into the water, Ledecky proves us wrong. In an exclusive interview with our sister brand, EatingWell, she revealed the super simple breakfast that she prepares. “I'll have oatmeal with some peanut butter and a banana,” she said. Ledecky also said that she eats this practically every day and it works perfectly for her “in between practices and before practices.” Not only is this a healthy choice for the swimmer but it also is packed with protein that helps keep Ladecky’s energy up for her laps. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios Katie Ledecky's Other Go-To Meals Ladecky further revealed some of her other meals that she loves to eat. For lunch, she likes to keep things easy with eggs on toast. “I'll [usually] put some spinach or tomatoes in my eggs, but I kind of mix up what I'm putting in my eggs,” she said. For a pick-me-up, she likes to grab a Core Power drink when she goes in for afternoon practices. Another way she refuels before dinner is with snacks provided by Mother Nature herself. “I love berries,” Ledecky explains. “Just getting some extra fruit or vegetables in, that's usually my snack.” But dinner is finally where Ledecky likes to go off of the beaten path and mix things up. “I'll make chicken or steak or salmon with something to go with it, whether it's a salad or some rice or some other vegetables,” she shared. The Olympic season officially starts Friday, July 26, with the swimming portion of the games kicking off Saturday, July 27. We will be cheering Ladecky on as she starts competing—and hopefully wins gold. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
