Costco is a haven of fun new food finds and if you're a big corn dog lover like we are here at Allrecipes, you're going to want to take a look at this new Costco product.

Costco's New Korean-Style Crispy Potato Corn Dogs

Costco’s Hans Chef Korean-Style Crispy Potato Corn Dogs put a totally new spin on corn dogs. Instead of a hot dog at the center of this crispy creation you'll find a center full of gooey melted cheese. That's right, no meat at all. Think of it like a giant mozzarella stick served on a stick. The outer coating mixes things up too, because instead of a simple cornbread crust, this cheesy delight is also covered in cubes of crispy fried potatoes.

We first saw them circulating on social media from users in Canada but then we found a video from geraldfermin who recently spotted them during a Costco trip at a location in Fremont, CA. After trying them at home he called them a “game-changer” with the “Marinara combo.” According to the user, they're best when air-fried for a nice, crispy texture.

The eight-pack of individually wrapped Korean-style corn dogs are priced around $12.99 but at select Costco stores only. We’re hoping more locations do based on increasing demand and positive feedback and reviews from customers on various social media platforms. Here’s what other customers have said about Costco’s Korean-style corn dogs, along with some tips for how to prepare them at home.

How to Eat Costco's Korean-Style Corn Dogs, According to Customers

The user in the video mentioned eating them with the “Marinara combo,” but other customers offered tips in the comments section on the post. One user wrote, “I bought them at Costco and made my own dipping sauce with Honey, dijon, soy sauce, and a little sesame oil.” Another user said, “Try it with pesto 10 times better.” Overall, the comments were positive and fans were pleased; however, some Costco customers on Reddit were disappointed with them.

Redditor Puzzleheaded-Body993 suggested adding meat, so unless you’re vegetarian, it might be worth trying for a little extra flavor, heartiness in texture, and protein for satiety power. The user wrote, “We hacked it by stuffing in some sausage with the cheese—it definitely made it taste better and more corn dog like.” However, you could also add chicken, turkey or beef, too. Other users recommended adding seasonings and salt. One user by the name grumpygumption commented, “We salted them and it made them 10,000 times better,” for example.

In another Reddit thread discussing these corn dogs and the best condiment options to enjoy them with, many users mentioned the cheese being sweet and resembling dessert. One user used the term “marshmallow” to describe the taste of the mozzarella cheese filling. So if you prefer a more savory corn dog or don’t have too much of a sweet tooth, consider balancing the sweetness out with sauces and condiments, such as “that Bachan's BBQ sauce that Costco sells,” according to one Redditor. Many other users also recommended enjoying them with either spicy mayo or ketchup and mustard to cut through the sweetness.

Another idea is to embrace the sugary feel and play it up, so it really resembles dessert instead. In a different Reddit thread, Reddit user Anand999 wrote, “In any case, these would be pretty bomb if you lean into the sweetness and add some powdered sugar or a drizzle of fruit syrup on them.” So, if you also have a sweet tooth, try this approach and see what you think before writing them off.
