What did we do before rotisserie chickens were so easy to get at grocery stores? The seasoned, ready-to-eat, whole chickens are a lifesaver on busy nights. Go to the store, grab a cooked whole chicken, some ready-made mashed potatoes, a microwavable bag of frozen veggies, and dinner prep is done. The chicken leftovers are also so convenient to have around to cook up dishes such as chicken Tetrazzini, chicken tacos, pot pie, the most comforting casseroles, and so much more.

Could using a rotisserie chicken get any easier? Apparently, yes. Costco now has a meal made from its beloved rotisserie chicken that many customers are trying, but not all are loving.

Wrapping It Up

Costco is using its rotisserie chicken to create a new wrap sold in the refrigerated section—Southwest Rotisserie Chicken Wraps. The Instagram account Costco Buys spotted them at a local store and posted a quick video about them saying, “We love these!”

The wraps have the Costco rotisserie chicken in them, of course, and also contain a “delicious southwest blend of tasty chipotle sauce” and cost $6.99 a pound. They’re wrapped in a tortilla, and the long list of ingredients shows chicken, black beans, corn, cream cheese, sour cream, mayo, a shredded cheese blend, baby spinach, red onion, bell pepper, seasonings, and other ingredients you would typically find in Southwest or Tex-Mex dishes.

Some of Costco Buys' followers are excited about the wraps; others have a few issues.

Mixed Reviews About Costco's Southwest Rotisserie Chicken Wraps

Some fans had great things to say about these wraps. “Way better than the Asian wrap!” said one. “Bought them. Loved them. Amazingly good. Lasted 2 lunches, not 4 like I hoped,” said another. And then there was the GIF that simply said, “YAAAAAAAS!”

When one commenter asked, “Are they good 1-10?” (Which is a great way to ask, isn’t it?) Costco Buys replied, “7/10, they’re definitely good but a bit pricey for what they are.”

The price put many Instagram users off. In the video, the package of four wraps plus sauce is 2.35 pounds and costs $16.43. That’s about $4.10 each for wraps that are about a 1/2 pound each. For many, that price is too high, and they are vocal about it.

“Pfft 16 bucks! Nah I’ll pass and walk my a-- to the food court for that 1.99 pizza,” said one. “Over $4/half. No thanks,” commented another. “Buy a chicken and make it at home, the chickens are 5.00 do the math,” suggested someone else.

But the price wasn’t the only complaint. That long list of ingredients mentioned above turned many people off. The list is very long, partially because the ingredients of each ingredient are listed, too. For example, mayonnaise is listed along with each ingredient that makes up the mayo—all 10 of them. There are well over 60 ingredients listed, and that gives some people pause.

“$16 for 73947292836 ingredients,” mentioned one person, getting his point across. “Look at all those gross ingredients,” said another. And still another, “Definitely not worth 100 ingredients.”

It’s not often we see this many divided comments about a Costco item, but if the cost doesn’t bother you, and you understand that foods like this are going to have processed ingredients, it seems worrying about the taste shouldn’t keep you away.
