Amanda Nuchols Ratings & Reviews 13 Tortellini Alfredo with Cheese Tortellini 08/25/2011 really soupy. Helpful (1) Banana Pancakes 03/10/2011 I used three large ripe bananas instead of two, doubled the rest of the ingredients and added a teaspoon of organic fair trade Vanilla along with a sprinkle of Cassia Cinnamon. I think next time I might substitute a 1/4 of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour. They were delicious! :-) Helpful (0) Deluxe Blackberry Pie 12/11/2010 Helpful (0) Iced Pumpkin Cookies 10/17/2010 Decent cookie. Not the best I've ever made, but my daughter likes them and that is what really matters. I probably will try a different recipe next time, as these just don't kick it up for me. Helpful (0) Powdered Sugar 10/17/2010 I used a Magic Bullet and did batches of 1 cup each. It took about a minute per batch and the consistency and taste is exactly that of store-bought confectioner's sugar. Absolutely brilliant - will use every time from now on! PS - Someone below asked why there is cornstarch in it. It is because that is how confectioner's sugar is made and it will affect the outcome/consistency of your icing, etc. if you leave out the cornstarch. It is a necessary ingredient. The changes I made were to add 1/8 tsp. black pepper and 1 minced garlic clove to the onion/stem sauté before stuffing the mushroom caps. I also used half cheddar cheese and half monterey jack cheese for a milder cheese flavor. Helpful (1) Alicia's Aloo Gobi 09/04/2010 Excellent, flavorful and a huge hit with the hubby. :) Be advised, this recipe is incredibly spicy, so those of us with more "Americanized" palates might like to halve or even use a third of the cayenne called for in the recipe. The rest of the spices can be found cheaply at your local Indian Market. Finally, I added some chopped cilantro as garnish and served with naan. Helpful (0) Red Lentil Curry 08/26/2010 Wonderfully flavorful! I used mild curry powder and mild Patak's curry paste so my toddler could have some too and this recipe was a hit all around the table. :) Also, I used powdered ginger instead of fresh, doubled the amount of lentils, onions and tomato puree and we will have leftovers for a couple of days. Great stuff. Helpful (1) Amish White Bread 08/26/2010 I have never been very good at making bread. Until now. This is the most awesome and simple recipe I have ever found and my entire family loves it. I have made it several times now, and lately I add a tablespoon of flax seeds to the dough for extra awesomeness. It is wonderful for sandwiches, toast, with soup, anything. :) Helpful (1) White Frosting 06/15/2010 What a lovely and simple old-fashioned frosting recipe! :) I made mine bright pink with 3 drops of red food coloring. A real winner. I used my Kitchen Aid stand mixer on med-high and the texture came out lovely. Helpful (2) Pocket Bread 06/08/2010 Way too much salt and cook time is not nearly long enough. The first time I made this bread it was like eating doughy salt. I cut the salt in 1/2 and cooked the bread almost twice as long to get a decent pocket and color. After those adjustments it was alright. Helpful (4) Load More
