Aldi Is Bringing Back Its $25 Le Creuset Copycat and It’s Perfect for Fall Baking

I don't have much room left in my kitchen, but I'm making space for it.

Now that fall is officially here, it’s time to start making all the glorious comfort food we've been missing. From casseroles to pasta, stews, soups, and more—the list is endless. And do you know what's often served on the side of many of these comfort foods? A slice of crusty bread. That slice is essential for sopping up broths and sauces, soaking up every last bit of deliciousness.

It’s tempting to buy a premade loaf from the grocery store, but homemade bread is almost always better—especially if you can get a nice crust on it. One way home bakers achieve that crust is by baking bread in either a Dutch oven or cast-iron bread dome, also known as a bread oven, baking dome, or bread cloche. A bread dome is bakeware specifically designed to create a beautiful crust on your bread.

Of course, Le Creuset makes a bread oven—to the tune of $300. If you’re planning to bake bread daily or you want a specific color to match the cast iron you already own, it may be worth the investment. But, if you want to try your hand at baking crusty bread at home without forking out $300, Aldi has you (and me) covered this week. My kitchen is cramped, but I feel the lure of the Aldi Finds aisle calling my name.

Aldi’s Crofton Cast Iron Bread Dome

Aldi's Crofton Bread Dome, which looks remarkably similar to Le Creuset’s version, will be available in the Aldi Finds aisle this week. It’s about the same size and has a long-lasting porcelain enamel exterior and interior. The bread dome comes in two colors, green or white, and is oven-safe up to 482 degrees F (250 degrees C). But perhaps what makes this pot stand out is its affordability. Priced at $24.99, Aldi's Bread Dome is $275 less than Le Creuset's.

At such a drastic price difference, does the Croften Bread Dome function well? According to an r/aldi subreddit titled, “10/10 Would Bread Again: Crofton Cast Iron Bread Oven,” it most certainly does. Those who purchased the bread dome seem to love it. The bread “tastes great and the crust is excellent!” one person commented.

To complete the bread-making set, Aldi is also selling a Bread Making Kit, decked with a proofing basket, whisk, bench scraper, and more equipment to help you get going on your baking journey.

As far as which recipe to use, the dome comes with its own recipe. But if you want more inspiration, you can try one of our bread recipes in the dome, such as Irish Soda Bread, No-Knead Bread, or Broa (Portuguese Cornbread). Whichever bread you choose to make first, make sure you get to Aldi quickly to snag one of these bread pots. As with all Aldi Finds, it’s in the aisle for only one week.
