The 10 Aldi Products I Always Buy for My Adult Lunch Box

I’m never tempted to go out for lunch when I have these on hand.

I remember my mom packing my lunches for me when I was a kid in my own lunch box, and now that I’m older, I realize how much I took this very caring act for granted. When I moved on to college, I had different places where I could grab something to satiate me between classes.

I could head to the dining hall and grab a quick bite or to our convenience store for an overpriced sandwich (seriously, they were like $5). Or, for an even better treat, go to our local Starbucks (like "Today" star Savannah Guthrie does every day for lunch). There were so many options!

But now, as I’ve graduated and entered the workforce, I realize I can’t afford to eat out for lunch every day. So, in an effort to save some money and zhush up my boring leftover lunches, I’ve started to hunt for the perfect grocery store finds to pack myself — and I think I’ve perfected this exercise, with a little help from Aldi. Here are my top 10 Aldi products I pack in my lunches to help me eat well and not spend all my money.

10 Products I Always Buy at Aldi To Stock My Adult Lunch Box

Specially Selected Smoked Gouda Macaroni & Cheese

I try to pack my lunches the night before, and one of the easiest things to prepare is mac and cheese. The best in my opinion is Specially Selected Smoked Gouda. It’s super creamy and easy to make — and to make it extra filling, I like to add some shredded chicken, toss it in a container, and go to sleep knowing I'm ready to seize the day.

Simply Nature Freeze Dried Assorted Fruits

Aldi’s packages of freeze-dried fruit are so addictive, they should come with a warning label. I have eaten a whole bag in one sitting because they’re just so good. Since these are freeze-dried, I can easily transport them in my lunch box and still have room for more goodies.

Emporium Selection Zesty or Pesto Marinated Sliced Fresh Mozzarella and Parkview Cocktail Smokies Smoked Sausage

With my main course packed, I also like to pack a little snack. For a protein pick-me-up, I always pair together some mozzarella and tiny cocktail sausages. The combination reminds me of a portable charcuterie board!

Deutsche Küche German Style Pickles

Continuing with the theme of my mini charcuterie board, I love to pair Aldi’s German-style pickles with the cheese and mini sausages. And I’ll make a bold claim here: these are the best pickles in all of Aldi.

Black Forest Juicy Burst Fruit Flavored Snacks

Fruit snacks are, of course, a staple in every lunch box. But if you’re going to pick one brand to consistently have in your bag, I recommend Black Forest Juicy Burst. If you’re looking for a healthier version of a gusher, these will be your new go-to!

Elevation Performance Energy Bars, Assorted Varieties

Everybody needs a little energy boost, and while I typically reach for an energy drink, I’m trying to cut back on those. So far, I’ve found that these energy bars do the trick! My favorite has been the chocolate chip flavor.

Kodiak Soft-Baked Cinnamon Oat and Apple Sandwich Breakfast Bars

Take it from somebody who knows all too well: Sometimes mornings are hectic and you just need to get out the door. In an effort to nourish myself even on those busy mornings, I pack Kodiak’s breakfast bars. These are great for a quick bite, and they keep me feeling full until I’m able to dig into lunch.

Clancy’s Dill Pickle Popcorn

I am a dill pickle connoisseur, and this crunchy treat is by far my favorite side snack that I pack in my lunch.

Choceur Dark Chocolate Pomegranate

You deserve a sweet little treat in your lunch box, and don’t let anybody tell you differently! In the realm of chocolate, I prefer the dark variety, and these little chocolate-cloaked pomegranate bites are ridiculously good. If dark chocolate isn’t your thing, Choceur also makes milk chocolate-covered fruit.
