Learned Hand
Billings Learned Hand (/ˈlɜːrnᵻd/ LURN-id; January 27, 1872 – August 18, 1961) was a United States judge and judicial philosopher. He served on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and later the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Hand has been quoted more often by legal scholars and by the Supreme Court of the United States than any other lower-court judge.
Born and raised in Albany, New York, Hand majored in philosophy at Harvard College and graduated with honors from Harvard Law School. After a short career as a lawyer in Albany and New York City, he was appointed at the age of 37 as a Federal District Judge in Manhattan in 1909. The profession suited his detached and open-minded temperament, and his decisions soon won him a reputation for craftsmanship and authority. Between 1909 and 1914, under the influence of Herbert Croly's social theories, Hand supported New Nationalism. He ran unsuccessfully as the Progressive Party's candidate for Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals in 1913, but withdrew from active politics shortly afterwards. In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge promoted Hand to the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which he went on to lead as the Senior Circuit Judge (later retitled Chief Judge) from 1939 until his semi-retirement in 1951. Scholars have recognized the Second Circuit under Hand as one of the finest appeals courts in the country's history. Friends and admirers often lobbied for Hand's promotion to the Supreme Court, but circumstances and his political past conspired against his appointment.

Worried Life Blues
"Worried Life Blues" is a blues standard and one of the most recorded blues songs of all time. Originally recorded by Major "Big Maceo" Merriweather in 1941, "Worried Life Blues" was an early blues hit and Maceo's most recognized song. An earlier song inspired it and several artists have had record chart successes with their interpretations of the song.
Background
"Worried Life Blues" is based on "Someday Baby Blues" recorded by Sleepy John Estes in 1935. Estes' song is performed as a vocal and guitar country blues, whereas Maceo's is a prototypical Chicago blues. To illustrate the lyrical differences of the originals, the first few verses are as follows:
Oh lordy lord, oh lordy lord
It hurts me so bad, for us to part
But someday baby, I ain't gonna worry my life anymore
I don't care how long you go, I don't care how long you stay
But that good kind treatment, bring you back home someday
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry my mind anymore
Over the years the differences have become blurred by various cover versions of the songs, which use elements from both songs, often combined with new lyrics and variations in the music.

June 17 (Bloomberg) -- Judge Learned Hand was an esteemed jurist and had perhaps the best name of any judge ever. But did you know he could also rock the mic? Professor Ross Davies, of the George Mason University School of Law, has unearthed the story of how the great judge, who died in 1961, came to make a recording for the Library of Congress. Hand knew a folk song that was of interest to the Library of Congress's Chief of Music who was preserving American Folk Songs. So in 1942, while attending a judicial conference at the Supreme Court, Hand walked across the street to the Library to lay down some vocals. Professor Ross Davies, of the George Mason University School of Law, has unearthed the story of how the great judge, who died in 1961, came to make a recording for the Library of Congress.
Hand knew a folk song that was of interest to the Library of Congress's Chief of Music who was preserving American Folk Songs. So in 1942, while attending a judicial conference at the Supreme Court, Hand walked across the street to the Library to lay down some vocals.
Alan Lomax, the great folk song promoter who was still in his 20s, recorded the judge. Professor Davies' journal, The Green Bag (home of the Supreme Court bobblehead doll), has produced 500 copies of the judge's full recording session.
And now, at long last, Bloomberg Law has taken Hand's vocal track about the Civil War, and added a full band... Ladies and Gentlemen... Learned Skynyrd!

Learned Hand
Billings Learned Hand (/ˈlɜːrnᵻd/ LURN-id; January 27, 1872 – August 18, 1961) was a United States judge and judicial philosopher. He served on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and later the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Hand has been quoted more often by legal scholars and by the Supreme Court of the United States than any other lower-court judge.
Born and raised in Albany, New York, Hand majored in philosophy at Harvard College and graduated with honors from Harvard Law School. After a short career as a lawyer in Albany and New York City, he was appointed at the age of 37 as a Federal District Judge in Manhattan in 1909. The profession suited his detached and open-minded temperament, and his decisions soon won him a reputation for craftsmanship and authority. Between 1909 and 1914, under the influence of Herbert Croly's social theories, Hand supported New Nationalism. He ran unsuccessfully as the Progressive Party's candidate for Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals in 1913, but withdrew from active politics shortly afterwards. In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge promoted Hand to the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which he went on to lead as the Senior Circuit Judge (later retitled Chief Judge) from 1939 until his semi-retirement in 1951. Scholars have recognized the Second Circuit under Hand as one of the finest appeals courts in the country's history. Friends and admirers often lobbied for Hand's promotion to the Supreme Court, but circumstances and his political past conspired against his appointment.

"The Royal Albert Hall is Eric Clapton’s home away from home in London. Since his debut at the historic venue with the Yardbirds in 1964, Clapton has performed there over 200 times. Eric also holds the record for the longest run of concerts at the venue. He set it in 1990 with 18 shows, then broke it the following year with 24 concerts. They were some of the most ambitious shows of Clapton’s career. Each night featured him performing a career-spanning set with one of three lineups – a rock band, a blues band, or an orchestra conducted by Michael Kamen.
To commemorate that record-setting run, Clapton released 24 NIGHTS in October 1991. The double live album and home video delivered great performances but only covered a fraction of what was filmed and recorded.
All the audio and video from 24 NIGHTS was painstakingly restored and upgraded by Clapton for THE DEFINITIVE 24 NIGHTS, which will be available on limited edition boxed sets as either 6-CDs or 8-LPs on June 23. Both versions come with three Blu-ray discs for the video content, a hardbound book, and an individually numbered lithograph featuring a photograph of Clapton by Carl Studna.
Standalone versions of the individual concerts – 24 NIGHTS: ROCK, 24 NIGHTS: BLUES, and 24 Nights: ORCHESTRAL – will be released the same day in 2-CD/DVD and 3-LP (Rock and Orchestral) and 2-LP (Blues) configurations.
Each are limited edition versions and available now to order
