Blues is always from the people for the people and this video creates a moment in time to come together and put all the darkness and division we face as...

And all your loneliness I'll try to soothe
I'll play the #Blues for you
Don't be afraid come on in
You might run across some of your old friends
All your loneliness I gotta soothe
I'll play the blues for you
I got no big name and I ain't no big star
I play the blues for you on my guitar
All your loneliness I'll try to soothe
I 'll play the blues for you

In honor of blues legend Robert Johnson's birthday, we are proud to share our latest Song Around The World, "Walking Blues," featuring Keb' Mo' along with musicians from six countries. Originally written and recorded by Son House in 1930, Robert recorded his own version in 1936. We started our version in Patagonia, Argentina with Roberto Luti and Nico Bereciartua playing slide guitars in front of a 100-year-old fig tree and with that raw performance, we added friends as we traveled to create a blues jam around the world. Blues is always from the people for the people and this video creates a moment in time to come together and put all the darkness and division we face as a human race into the music so it can set us free. Welcome to Face Your Fears; Claim Your Destiny, Soul Therapy! If this is your first time chiming in Welcome!
So we are going into our tenth video of our first series, "Discovering Inspirational Musicians." In the end this will be a 15 part series.... then we're heading into more of the blues, touching "base" on blues history along the journey! My name is Sarah and I will be your host.
In this video we'll briefly be touching base on the "List of Blues Standards."
BLUES STANDARDS are blues songs that have attained a level of recognition due to been widely performed and recorded. They represent the best known and most interpreted blues songs that are seen as standing the test of time. BLUES STANDARDS come from different era's & styles, such as RAGTIME-VAUDEVILL, DELTA, and other early acoustic styles including URBAN BLUES from Chicago and the West Coast.
Many blues songs were developed in American folk music traditions where many individual songwriters were left unknown.
"In the case of very old blues songs, there is the constant recourse to oral tradition that conveyed the tune and even the song itself while at the same time evolving for several decades. This was long before the first recording. The fact that such blues are attributed to CHARLIE PATTON, BLIND LEMON JEFFERSON, & BLIND BLAKE often means that they were the first to record them" -Gerard Herzhaft
(Blues Historian)
In the earlier days, most blues songs weren't copywriten. Therefore, later, the rights were claimed by those who recorded a "subsequent version" or the typical managers and record company owners.
Nearly 50% of the "BLUES STANDARDS" list of musicians were first recorded in pre-World War 11 ACOUSTIC BLUES ERA, (before music publications tracked the sales of blues records).
However, the more popular renditions incorporated electric instruments. For an example; ROBERT JOHNSON & TAMPA RED were the first to record the "most" Blues Standards on the list at four each. They performed them either as solo or duo acoustic performances.
B.B. King and Muddy Waters, however, had the most standards on the charts at 5 each! Its important to note, both used electric blues-ensemble arrangements.
"From its inception, the blues has always responded to developments in popular music as a whole: the use of guitar & piano in American folk and gospel, the percussive rhythms of jazz, the lyrics of TIN PAN ALLEY, and the widespread use of amplification and electric instruments all helped shape the evolution of the blues."
-Richie Unterberger
(Music Journalist)
BLUES STANDARDS appearing on the main charts in the 60's & 70's were often recorded by RHYTHM AND BLUES, SOUL & ROCK musicians. Each song on the list of the "BLUES STANDARDS" have been identified by five or more music writers as a blues standards...

The BBC reported that British blues musician John Mayall - whose influential band the Bluesbreakers was a springboard for stars including Eric Clapton - has died at the age of 90.
The songwriter died at his home in California on Monday surrounded by family.
JOHN MAYALL was an English blues/rock musician, songwriter and producer. In the 1960s, he formed John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, a band that has counted among its members some of the most famous blues and blues rock musicians.
Sir Mick Jagger led the tributes from fellow musicians, hailing him as "a great pioneer of British blues".
Clapton posted a video thanking Mayall for "rescuing me from oblivion" when he wanted to quit music as a teenager before joining his band.
"I learned all that I really have to go on today in terms of technique, and desire to play, the kind of music I love to play," the Blues

Album: No Surrender https://www.danielcastro.com/ Buy: https://www.ebay.com/itm/324741970349 , Albert King Cover, Lyrics:
If you're down and out and you feel real hurt
Come on over to the place where I work
And all your loneliness I'll try to soothe
I'll play the #Blues for you
Don't be afraid come on in
You might run across some of your old friends
All your loneliness I gotta soothe
I'll play the blues for you
I got no big name and I ain't no big star
I play the blues for you on my guitar
All your loneliness I'll try to soothe
I 'll play the blues for you
As he grew up in the L.A. area, Daniel was heavily influenced by the blues greats Albert KIng, B.B. King, and Albert Collins. As a kid, Daniel would hang outside clubs like the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach to hear these blues legends perform and wait for a glimpse of them through the curtains. After cutting his teeth in South Central L.A. blues clubs with “Mighty Mouth” Delmar Evans, who worked with the Johnny Otis Show, Castro backed other great artists from Otis’ band, including Pee Wee Crayton and Little Esther Phillips. He also recorded and toured with many other artists including legendary Small Faces singer-bassist Ronnie Lane.
