TheMediterranean Sea/ˌmɛdɪtəˈreɪniənˈsiː/ is a sea connected to the Atlantic Ocean surrounded by the Mediterranean region and almost completely enclosed by land: on the north by Southern Europe and Anatolia, on the south by North Africa, and on the east by the Levant. The sea is sometimes considered a part of the Atlantic Ocean, although it is usually identified as a separate body of water.
The name Mediterranean is derived from the Latinmediterraneus, meaning "inland" or "in the middle of the land" (from medius, "middle" and terra, "land"). It covers an approximate area of 2.5 million km2 (965,000sqmi), but its connection to the Atlantic (the Strait of Gibraltar) is only 14km (8.7mi) wide. The Strait of Gibraltar is a narrow strait that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea and separates Gibraltar and Spain in Europe from Morocco in Africa. In oceanography, it is sometimes called the Eurafrican Mediterranean Sea or the European Mediterranean Sea to distinguish it from mediterranean seas elsewhere.
A mediterranean sea/ˌmɛdɪtəˈreɪniən/ is, in oceanography, a mostly enclosed sea that has limited exchange of water with outer oceans and where the water circulation is dominated by salinity and temperature differences rather than winds. In English, the similarly-named Mediterranean Sea – which is almost completely enclosed by Europe, Asia, and Africa – is a notable example.
Mediterranean was a battle honour awarded to the following Militia battalions of the British Army for their service during the Crimean War of 1854-55, when they volunteered for garrison duty and relieved the regular battalions of their respective regiments for active service:
49th, or East Kent Militia (later 3rd Battalion, the Buffs)
55th, or Royal Westminster, or 3rd Middlesex Militia (later 5th Battalion, the Royal Fusiliers)
A Mediterranean climate/ˌmɛdɪtəˈreɪniən/ is the climate typical of the lands in the Mediterranean Basin, and is a particular variety of subtropical climate. The lands around the Mediterranean Sea form the largest area where this climate type is found, but it also is found in most of California in parts of Western and South Australia, in southwestern South Africa, sections of Central Asia, and in central Chile.
Characteristics
The Mediterranean climate is characterized by warm to hot, dry summers and mild to cool, wet winters. Mediterranean climate zones are associated with the five large subtropical high pressure cells of the oceans: the Azores High, South Atlantic High, North Pacific High, South Pacific High, and Indian Ocean High. These climatological high pressure cells shift towards the poles in the summer and towards the equator in the winter, playing a major role in the formation of the world's subtropical and tropical deserts as well as the Mediterranean Basin's climate.
The South Atlantic High is similarly associated with the Namib Desert and the Mediterranean climate of the western part of South Africa. The North Pacific High is related to the Sonoran Desert and California's climate, while the South Pacific High is related to the Atacama Desert and central Chile's climate, and the Indian Ocean High is related to the deserts of Western Australia (Great Sandy Desert, Great Victoria Desert, and Gibson Desert) and the Mediterranean climate of southwest and south-central Australia.
Beyond establishing whether or not viticulture can even be sustained in an area, the climatic influences of a particular area goes a long way in influencing the type of grape varieties grown in a region and the type of viticultural practices that will be used. The presence of adequate sun, heat and water are all vital to the healthy growth and development of grapevines during the growing season. Additionally, continuing research has shed more light on the influence of dormancy that occurs after harvest when the grapevine essentially shuts down and reserves its energy for the beginning of the next year's growing cycle.
"Damn!" is a song by rap duo YoungBloodZ released as the second single from their second studio album Drankin' Patnaz. It features crunk artist Lil Jon.
It is their biggest hit to date, peaking at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, YoungBloodZ's sole top 10 single on the chart.
The Mediterranean is one of the world’s most strategic seas, as important as the South China Sea. This region is now seeing a Geopolitics resurgence in conflicts and tension over its waters. The shift of America’s foreign policy to the Indo-Pacific and China; the increasing tension between Greece and Turkey; the expansion of the Dubai and Ankara strategy over the Middle East and North Africa; and the increasing interests of Russia and China in the region are all determining factors in the degradation of the Mediterranean security environment.
The conflict in Libya is an example of the Mediterranean strategic relevance. In this video we will analyze the main actors and resons behing this major conflict.

More than 150 million people live in coastal cities around the Mediterranean sea, and many of them are under threat from rising sea levels due to climate change. Cities are pouring billions of dollars into dams and mitigation projects to prevent flooding, but there is an idea - an old idea - that could save all of the cities at once. But here’s why damming the Mediterranean is harder than it sounds.

The Plan to Drain the Mediterranean Sea

There is a proposal to dam the Strait of Gibraltar and drain the Mediterranean Sea. Introduced by German architect Herman Sorgel in the 1920’s, the proposal would include a massive dam and hydroelectric plant at the Strait of Gibraltar, along with dams at the Dardanelles Strait and between Sicily and Tunisia. Without water flowing in from the Atlantic, over 70 years, the sea level would drop 100 meters. 576,000 square kilometers of new land would be opened up and massive hydropower potential would be generated. In addition, in Africa, the Congo River would be dammed up, creating huge new inland seas in the Congo and Cha...

Geopolitics of İtaly: A country in decline?
İn this video i wanted to talk about the geopolitics of the İtalian peninsula in the Mediterranean, more specifically it's historical and political interventions in North Africa an the Western Balkans. These regions are without a doubt the most important regions for İtaly because geographically speaking they are very close. Even though İtaly struggles to see itself as a peninsula due to the historical process that made it a nation in the first place, the Mediterranean is without a doubt the most important region for İtaly.
However i also wanted to talk about the future challenges of İtaly inside the EU now that the (Dis)United Kingdom has left the union. This was my first so please excuse all my audio and editing mistakes. İ tried my best. Thank you for watching.

In addition, in Africa, the Congo River would be dammed up, creating huge new inland seas in the Congo and Chad. Lastly, the project would unite Europe and Africa into a new supercontinent called Atlantropa. While Herman Sorgel promised a list of benefits for Atlantropa, the reality would be much different. It would strand historic coastal cities inland, all the new exposed land would be salt flats, it would displace millions, cost trillions of dollars and when introduced, would have allowed Europeans powers to exploit Africa.

Begging isn't easy It kills your self-esteem Makes you feel dependent It makes you feel mean But subtlety is useless In breaking down a wall And subtlety is toothless You'd rather see me crawl So if it takes a flashy display To make you warm up, OK CHORUS Because you're so important to me So important to me So important to me Right now This discrimination Is cruel and inhumane If I had any pride left I'd say you were insane If only you would love me Or just be less intense It isn't that I'm ugly It isn't that I'm dense But if it takes a cheap, tawdry scene To make you see what I mean CHORUS
