The Essential Role Played by The Mediterranean Front In The Axis Defeat | Battlefield | War Stories
Despite not seeing as much action as the rest of Europe in WW2, the Mediterranean theatre played a crucial part in the defeat of Hitler and The Axis powers. A vital lifeline between Europe and the desert war in North Africa no supplies could reach Axis troops without crossing the Mediterranean Sea. The smaller-scale battles in this "soft underbelly" of Nazi Germany also played a key role in drawing German troops and draining their resources.

Meanwhile, plans for the invasion of Northern France were being drafted.
