Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian homes included many distinctive features, from the brick and cedar materials to the open floor plan. But one of the most distinctive features might be the windows — which reflected his broader philosophy of natural light.
As the above video shows, Wright considered natural light an important part of the house that deserved highlighting, both in the windows used and in the way the rest of the house showcased that light. The Pope-Leighey house in Alexandria, Virginia, is a particularly good showcase of the way these windows made natural light an integral part of the home.

Why these 2 houses, now open to the public, are key to Frank Lloyd Wright’s legacy
At the Currier Museum in Manchester, New Hampshire, you can find two homes designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright on the same street—a rarity. Curators say they not only offer a window into the past, but important lessons for the future. Special Correspondent Jared Bowen of WGBH Boston brings us the story of how these homes, now open to the public, came to be.

The house was designed as a weekend home for Liliane and Edgar J. Kaufmann, the owner of Kaufmann's Department Store.
After its completion, Time called Fallingwater Wright's "most beautiful job" and it is listed among Smithsonian's "Life List of 28 Places to See Before You Die." SC Johnson’s Administrative Building and Research Tower in Racine, Wisconsin, have become legendary as corporate headquarters buildings. The Administrative Building’s Great Workroom is a stunning example of architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s unique approach to office design.
But what did it really feel like? Vox’s Phil Edwards visited the HQ to find out — and try actually working there. He also visited the Hardy House, an earlier Wright design that features many of the same Wright signatures found in the SC Johnson building, from custom designed furniture to ideas about compression and expansion.

Wright divulges two of his earliest influences, one logical (Louis Sullivan) and the other somewhat surprising (his mother). The house in Oak Park is shown and discussed, as is the Fallingwater house and Wright’s homes—Taliesin in Wisconsin and Taliesin West in California. A rural church that Wright designed is discussed as are interiors and exteriors of the Johnson Factory Building. Exploring his public persona, the architect makes no apology for choosing honest arrogance over hypocritical humility. He claims his greatest achievement will always be his next design.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater: Inside the House That Forever Changed Architecture
I think nothing yet ever equaled the coordination, sympathetic expression of the great principle of repose where forest and stream and rock and all the elements of structure are combined so quietly that really you listen not to any noise whatsoever although the music of the stream is there. But you listen to Fallingwater the way you listen to the quiet of the country...

Why Frank Lloyd Wright’s windows look like this
Natural light was an obsession — and he worked hard to let it in.

America’s Greatest Architect
Can a single architect change and redefine the architecture for a country? Usually the answer is no. History is never made just by one person. But every once in a while someone comes along to prove that wrong. Probably one of the most famous architects in the world Frank Lloyd Wright doesn’t really need an introduction. Designing more than a 1,000 structures over a creative period of 70 years, this man single handedly changed the architectural landscape of America, not only through his designs, but by inspiring generations of architects to this day. But brilliant as he was, the story of Frank Lloyd Wright is nothing short of a Shakesperean play. This man who was called the greatest American architect of all time, has a journey filled with love, loss, grief, lust, scandal & betrayal. Would...

Inside The Home Frank Lloyd Wright Designed For His Son | Unique Spaces | Architectural Digest
Today, AD travels to Phoenix, Arizona, to tour the David and Gladys Wright house—the home designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright for his son. When your father is America’s most celebrated architect, the greatest gift he could give you is a house, and this unique home uses many of the same ideas Lloyd Wright incorporated in the design of the Guggenheim Museum. The spiral structures, often symbolizing the infinite or longevity, are poetic, as David and his wife Gladys lived to be over 100 years old in this house. After many years of neglect and threats of demolition, father-and-daughter duo Bing and Amanda Hu bought the house and have since been on a mission to restore it to its former glory, keeping its legacy alive.

From a young boy playing with blocks to becoming one of the most revered architects in history, Frank Lloyd Wright's journey is one of creativity, opportunity, and adaptability.

__Description__
From a young boy playing with blocks to becoming one of the most revered architects in history, Frank Lloyd Wright's journey is one of creativity, opportunity, and adaptability. Early experiences with geometric patterns and design principles laid the groundwork for an incredible career, challenging the notion that his skills were merely innate rather than cultivated through experiences and serendipitous opportunities.
This video traces the career of Frank Lloyd Wright in an attempt to dispel the traditional narrative that he was simply a singular genius. Rather, his ability to leverage economic and social shifts, especially in architectural practices, set him apart and propelled him into the cultural figure we know today.

Note from Frank: "This is my version of the original arrangement of the Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Nady Zolc. I have reinstated some of the original notation and changed some if the articulation to suit my own strengths, but kept the F minor transposed key of course. Enjoy!"
