Wausau East High School
Coordinates: 44°58′52″N 89°35′51″W / 44.9812°N 89.5975°W / 44.9812; -89.5975
Wausau East High School is a comprehensive public secondary school in Wausau, Wisconsin. Originally named Wausau High School, it became Wausau East with the opening of Wausau West High School in the early 1970s. Part of the Wausau School District, the school enrolled 1,322 students in grades 9 through 12 as of 2007. The current principal is Dr. Bradley J. Peck.
The school newspaper, published since 1921, is The Skyrocket. The yearbook, published since 1915, is the WAHISCAN or Wausau High School Annual. The school's colors are red and white. Its mascot is a lumberjack because of the historical significance of the lumber industry in the Wausau area.
The average class size is 20 students.
History
The first high school in Wausau was a two-room school house built in 1880 and occupied by multiple grades. When Washington School was erected as the high school in 1889 for $12,400, the city thought the school was too big. In 1897, when the school became overcrowded, five rooms in the court house were rented for classroom space. In 1898, a new high school was built at the cost of $65,000 by Van Ryn and DeGelleke of Milwaukee, on the corner of Seventh and Eighth Streets. Far from the center of the city, many city residents complained that it was too distant and others thought it was too large. The school opened its doors in 1900. Charles C. Parlin, the school's first principal, served until 1911. That school became known as Wausau High School until 1936, when it became Wausau Senior High School. A final name change occurred in 1970, the last year that Wausau had one high school. In 1971 two high schools served the Wausau School District, Wausau West High School, and now Wausau East High School.

Secondary education in the United States
In most jurisdictions, secondary education in the United States refers to the last four years of statutory formal education (grade nine through grade twelve) either at high school or split between a final year of 'junior high school' and three in high school.
History
The United States historically had a demand for general skills rather than specific training/apprenticeships. High school enrollment increased when schools at this level became free, laws required children to attend until a certain age, and it was believed that every American student had the opportunity to participate regardless of their ability.
In 1892, in response to many competing academic philosophies being promoted at the time, a working group of educators, known as the "Committee of Ten" was established by the National Education Association. It recommended twelve years of instruction, consisting of eight years of elementary education followed by four years of high school. Rejecting suggestions that high schools should divide students into college-bound and working-trades groups from the start, and in some cases also by race or ethnic background, they unanimously recommended that "every subject which is taught at all in a secondary school should be taught in the same way and to the same extent to every pupil so long as he pursues it, no matter what the probable destination of the pupil may be, or at what point his education is to cease."

High School (1968 film)
High School is a 1968 American documentary film directed by Frederick Wiseman that shows a typical day for a group of students at Northeast High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was one of the first direct cinema (or cinéma vérité) documentaries. It was shot over five weeks in March and April 1968. The film was not shown in Philadelphia at the time of its release, due to Wiseman's concerns over what he called "vague talk" of a lawsuit.
The film was released in October 1968 by Wiseman's distribution company, Zipporah Films. High School has been aired on PBS Television. Wiseman distributes his work (DVDs and 16mm prints) through Zipporah Films, which rents them to high schools, colleges, and libraries on a five-year long-term lease. High School was selected in 1991 for preservation in the National Film Registry.
Wiseman made a second documentary on high school, High School II, based on Central Park East Secondary School in New York City, released in 1994.

High School is a three-part BBC reality TV series that centers on a year in the life at Holyrood High School in Glasgow, Scotland.
Synopsis
High School is filmed at Holyrood Secondary, a Catholic school and one of the largest comprehensive High Schools in Europe with over 2000 pupils. The series seeks to capture the school's ethos rather than the day-to-day minutiae, resulting in little in-class footage but highlighting crucial parts of the school year. The film is narrated by actor Alec Newman, who ironically plays the headmaster in Waterloo Road.

East High School (Salt Lake City)
East High School is a public high school in the Salt Lake City School District in Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S. and serves grades nine through twelve. It also accepts and cares for mentally and physically disabled kids. East High School was founded in 1913 and currently has an enrolled student body of 2,109. It is located at 840 South 1300 East in the East Bench neighborhood. The original building was completed in 1913, and the current structure was built in 1997.
Most of the Disney Channel film High School Musical was filmed at East. The opening scenes of its first sequel High School Musical 2 (including the film's opening number, "What Time Is It?") were also filmed at East High. Additional filming took place in Saint George. The filming of the second sequel High School Musical 3: Senior Year began at East High on May 3, 2008.

Much of the Disney Channel film High School Musical and parts of its two sequels, High School Musical 2 and High School Musical 3: Senior Year, were filmed at East High. As a result, the school became a destination for some tourists. In the summer of 2007, the school received 40 to 50 visitors per day who wanted to visit the location of the film.

East High School (Pueblo, Colorado)
East High School is one of thirteen public high schools in Pueblo, Colorado, United States. It offers the International Baccalaureate program. It is a part of Pueblo City Schools.
History
For decades, Central and Centennial were the only public high schools in Pueblo, with Centennial claiming all those students living north of the Arkansas River and Central taking those who lived south of the river. But with the post-World War II boom that hit Pueblo in the 1950s, growth spread to the southwest and to the northeast portions of the city, bringing with it new neighborhoods and a slew of students that crowded into existing schools. The student population in the city increased from 18,288 in 1950 to 28,914 in 1959.
That increase led to one of the city's most extensive school-building programs that saw 16 new schools built, and a host of others were remodeled during the mid-to-late-1950s to accommodate the growth. On September 1, 1959, South and East high schools opened their doors to a new era and a fresh rivalry in Pueblo's tradition-steeped high school environment. Plans for building the new high schools began in 1956, but actual construction didn't begin until the summer of 1957. South and East, named for the locations in the city where they were located, were built to serve the growing Sunset Park and Belmont neighborhoods.

If you want to become a doctor, you have to go to medical school. And to get into medical school in the United States, you must follow a standardized applicatio...
If you want to become a doctor, you have to go to medical school. And to get into medical school in the United States, you must follow a standardized application process, which has several nuances you should know about.
Getting into medical school in the United States is a competitive ordeal, with approximately 53,000 students applying each year for 22,000 seats. That means the acceptance rate is roughly 41%. Matriculants also have an average GPA of 3.73 and MCAT of 511.5, which is the 83rd percentile.
The Primary Application to medical school is done through either AMCAS, AACOMAS, or TMDSAS, depending on whether you're applying to MD (allopathic) or DO (osteopathic) medical schools, and whether you're applying to Texas medical schools.
Secondary applications are sent about a month later, and unlike the primary application, are specific to each school. If the medical school is impressed by your primary and secondary applications, then you'll be invited to an interview. Interviews can be traditional, multiple mini interview (MMI), or panel.
Finally, the medical school will give you a decision, being acceptance, rejection, or waitlist.

If you want to become a doctor, you have to go to medical school. And to get into medical school in the United States, you must follow a standardized application process, which has several nuances you should know about.
Getting into medical school in the United States is a competitive ordeal, with approximately 53,000 students applying each year for 22,000 seats. That means the acceptance rate is roughly 41%. Matriculants also have an average GPA of 3.73 and MCAT of 511.5, which is the 83rd percentile.
The Primary Application to medical school is done through either AMCAS, AACOMAS, or TMDSAS, depending on whether you're applying to MD (allopathic) or DO (osteopathic) medical schools, and whether you're applying to Texas medical schools.
Secondary applications are sent about a month later, and unlike the primary application, are specific to each school. If the medical school is impressed by your primary and secondary applications, then you'll be invited to an interview. Interviews can be traditional, multiple mini interview (MMI), or panel.
Finally, the medical school will give you a decision, being acceptance, rejection, or waitlist.

Wausau East High School

Wausau East High School is a comprehensive public secondary school in Wausau, Wisconsin. Originally named Wausau High School, it became Wausau East with the opening of Wausau West High School in the early 1970s. Part of the Wausau School District, the school enrolled 1,322 students in grades 9 through 12 as of 2007. The current principal is Dr. Bradley J. Peck.
The school newspaper, published since 1921, is The Skyrocket. The yearbook, published since 1915, is the WAHISCAN or Wausau High School Annual. The school's colors are red and white. Its mascot is a lumberjack because of the historical significance of the lumber industry in the Wausau area.
The average class size is 20 students.
History
The first high school in Wausau was a two-room school house built in 1880 and occupied by multiple grades. When Washington School was erected as the high school in 1889 for $12,400, the city thought the school was too big. In 1897, when the school became overcrowded, five rooms in the court house were rented for classroom space. In 1898, a new high school was built at the cost of $65,000 by Van Ryn and DeGelleke of Milwaukee, on the corner of Seventh and Eighth Streets. Far from the center of the city, many city residents complained that it was too distant and others thought it was too large. The school opened its doors in 1900. Charles C. Parlin, the school's first principal, served until 1911. That school became known as Wausau High School until 1936, when it became Wausau Senior High School. A final name change occurred in 1970, the last year that Wausau had one high school. In 1971 two high schools served the Wausau School District, Wausau West High School, and now Wausau East High School.
