William Carey Dowd, Sr. (March 21, 1865 – September 23, 1927) was an American football player and coach, politician, and publisher. He served as the first head football coach at Wake Forest University, coaching the team for one game in 1888. Dowd later became a Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives and established a newspaper, The Charlotte News.
The Waterloo & City line is a tube line operated by London Underground. Crossing under the Thames, it runs between Waterloo and Bank stations with no intermediate stops. Its primary traffic is bringing commuters from south-western England arriving into Waterloo mainline station to the City of London. As a primarily commuter link it does not operate on Sundays or public holidays.
It was opened on 11 July 1898, having been built by the Waterloo & City Railway Company. Bank station was originally named "City". It was the second electric tube railway to open in London, after the City and South London Railway (now part of the Northern line). Owned and operated by two mainline rail companies before nationalisation into British Rail, it was transferred to London Underground in 1994 following a major refurbishment and stock replacement. Entirely underground aside from a shaft at its Waterloo depot, the line is not connected to any other rail route; rolling stock is removed for refurbishment using a road crane.
W.C. is an independent Irish Film, about two toilet attendants. The film premiered at the 2007 Dublin Film Festival and has screened at numerous other international film festivals worldwide, it won the best foreign film award at the 2009 Las Vegas film festival and best film at the Waterford film festival. The film was released theatrically in 2009.

LU: The Waterloo & City line
Today’s video is a short film about the Waterloo & City line of the London Underground.
Merely connecting two stations, namely Waterloo station with Bank station in the City of London, the Waterloo & City line is the shortest line of the London Underground. Waterloo & City Line (1) - Class 487 (built in 1940)
The Waterloo & City Line trains which were introduced by the Southern Railway in 1940.
Here they are (mostly) seen in Network SouthEast livery, although there is a still image at the end showing a train at Waterloo in BR Blue.
We also see the surrounding station areas at Bank and Waterloo and a DM after it had been withdrawn outside the National Railway Museum at York.
The Trav-o-lator tunnel at Bank is a mess. For a station in the wealthiest district of one of the planet's wealthiest nations this was a disgrace. Apparently the City Corporation (local govt. for the area) wanted to invest in the station and make it look respectable, but not only did Mrs Thatcher's govt. forbid this but they threatened the City Corporation that if it tried making this information / dispute public then it ...
