Urbino - The Light of Italy: Federico da Montefeltro - Extra History
📜 The First Opium War - Part 1 - Extra History
In 1792, Great Britain had just come out of an expensive war that cost them their control over many of their colonies in North America. Other wars had also cost them their access to the silver mines of South America, which had been helping fund so much of their trade with the Qing Dynasty of China. European traders all wanted greater access to China, but the Emperor was wary of letting outsiders too far into his country and kept them all penned up at the port of Canton, which was strictly regulated by the Hong business group. A flourishing blackmarket trade grew, but Britain wanted more. One trader, acting on his own initiative, grew bold enough to approach Beijing and attempt to get a hearing over his trade grievances, but the Chinese consid...

Urbino Citta: Italy, Beautiful Drone & Aerial Video Tour of Urbino Italia in 4k
In the 15th century, Urbino, a little hill town in Marche, underwent a tremendous cultural flowering that drew artists and intellectuals from all over Italy and beyond and had an impact on cultural trends across the rest of Europe. Due to the economic and cultural standstill that began in the 16th century, Urbino Citta has managed to retain a significant amount of its Renaissance aspect.
Urbino Italia, a traditional hill town (1,650 feet above sea level), features four gates and a medieval wall. At Piazza della Repubblica, the town's central square, two major routes intersect. One trader, acting on his own initiative, grew bold enough to approach Beijing and attempt to get a hearing over his trade grievances, but the Chinese considered this a huge breach of protocol and an offense to the Emperor. Britain had to do something, however: they imported over 10 million pounds of tea each year, equal to 10% of the government's annual spending, and the fact that China did not have anywhere near as great an interest in British products meant that they were running an enormous trade deficit they could no longer sustain. The Crown appointed an official envoy, Earl George Macartney, with orders to end the Canton system, establish an embassy, and acquire rights to an island that would be under British control in the same way that the Portuguese controlled Macao. The mission failed spectacularly. Although Macartney got permission to sail north and meet the Qianlong Emperor in his summer palace at Jehol, he refused to perform the traditional kowtow which was required upon meeting the Emperor. He presented gifts from the British court, but the Chinese interpreted these gifts as tribute, not trade enticements, and decided they had no need for nor interest in what he offered. Since he failed to get them to agree to any of his three requests, Britain wanted to find another way to address the trade imbalance with China. Soon, this would lead them to start bringing in opium.

Federico III da Montefeltro was the most illustrious of the family and held the city's history up to its reputation, ruling Urbino from 1444 to 1482.
An illustrious political and munificent patron, Frederick called to Urbino the most prominent figures of the Italian culture of Renaissance and next to them we should also mention Raffaello Sanzio (1483-1520), born in Urbino.
In 1508 the duchy passed to the Della Rovere, who continued to gather around them musicians and set designers, artists and writers; however, the court moved its head office to Pesaro, and Urbino became marginalised to the coastal centres.
Changes in the 19th century, which in other cities often created serious damage to the artistic heritage, were carried out in a very careful and prudent manner, with the utmost respect for an urban fabric that remains virtually intact today, making it a tourist and university town of great international reputation, especially in the field of Arts.

◈ A brief description of our shooting style 🎬🎥
In this channel we film from the point of view of the observer what surrounds us while we walk or ride scooter or bicycle.
The kind of film we make can be defined as Slow TV, i.e. filming ordinary events (such as a walk) for their entire duration, with original audio and without editing (except for unforeseen circumstances or technical reasons).
We decided to use this mode of shooting because we believe that in this way we can show (in addition to the places) a small slice of reality.
◈ How to use our Videos 📃
You can "actively" watch our videos, look at the details, read the names of the streets we pass through, and make comments about the places we visit (we'll be happy to reply).
Alternatively, you can use our videos as a "relaxing backdrop" while doing something else, such as Saturday morning breakfast or a ride on your exercise bike.

Marche Walking Tour
Hello Dear Friends👋, welcome to this new video.
Today we're going to walk the streets of Urbino, a beautiful Italian city of 13.767 inhabitants in the Marche region.
Urbino was one of the most important centers of the Italian Renaissance, whose architectural legacy it still preserves. The city is located on a steep hill from the top of which you can admire one of the most famous architectural pieces of the city (and perhaps of the entire Italian Renaissance), the Palazzo Ducale.
In Urbino, in addition to the Ducal Palace, there are several monuments and places of interest, such as the Cathedral (by the architect Valadier) and the house where the painter Raffaello Sanzio was born (just to name a few), so much so that since 1998 the historic center of this city has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Enjoy the tour and if you like the video press 👍 and subscribe to our channel.
Please help us reach 1000 subscribers soon 😉 .
Thank you very much🙏, greetings from MOPEG 👋❤

Simply known as "the Piazza," this is the hub of the city's cafes and a perfect area to enjoy an aperitivo or a cup of coffee while observing daily life. Hardy locals can scramble about urbino marche on the scarcely level road, which has ridged roads that fade into steep stairways. Urbino italy is a small town where the climbs aren't too long even if everything requires a hard journey.
The Renaissance walls have been defining Urbino's boundaries for many centuries, and it still looks to be one continuous and cohesive environment. There are still quite a few buildings from that time period inside these fortifications. However, as the squares and roads were enlarged in the early 19th century, some demolitions took place. The historic center is not currently under any significant threats.
During the Renaissance, the little Italian hill town of Urbino briefly rose to prominence as one of Europe's most important cultural hubs. The Renaissance walls of the historic center, complete with bastions, still stand today and serve as a defining feature of the area. The Ducal Palace, the cathedral, the Monastery of Santa Chiara, and a sophisticated network of oratories are only a few of the amazing structures that still exist inside these walls.
The 15th century saw an astounding cultural blooming at Urbino, a little city in the hills. It attracted artists and academics from all over Italy and beyond during this time, which had an impact on cultural developments in other parts of Europe. Between 1444 and 1482, Federico da Montefeltro was the ruler of Urbino. His court hosted some of the most prominent thinkers of the time, including Luciano Laurana, Francesco di Giorgio Martini, Paolo Uccello, Piero della Francesca, and Ambrogio Barocci. Prominent humanists of the day included Leone Battista Alberti, Marsilio Ficino, and Giovanni Bessarione. Outstanding urban and cultural undertakings were designed and carried out by these persons. Due to this cultural environment, Raffaello, Donato Bramante, and mathematician Luca Pacioli were able to flourish in their own art and science.
