Services on these routes are provided by Class 142, 143 and 150 DMUs, and are typically end-to-end, in that they run from one branch terminus, through Cardiff Queen Street station, to another branch terminus, e.g. from Pontypridd to Barry Island.
On 16 July 2012 the UK Government announced plans to extend the electrification of the network at a cost of £350 million. This was at the same time of the announcement of electrification of the South Wales Main Line from Cardiff to Swansea. This would also see investment in new trains and continued improvements to stations. It is thought to start between 2014 and 2019.
Cardiff (i/ˈkɑːrdɪf/; Welsh:Caerdydd[kairˈdiːð, kaˑɨrˈdɨːð]) is the capital and largest city in Wales and the tenth largest city in the United Kingdom. The city is the country's chief commercial centre, the base for most national cultural and sporting institutions, the Welsh national media, and the seat of the National Assembly for Wales. The unitary authority area's mid-2011 population was estimated to be 346,100, while the population of the Larger Urban Zone was estimated at 861,400 in 2009. Cardiff is part of the Cardiff and south Wales valleysmetropolitan area of about 1,100,000 people. Cardiff is a significant tourist centre and the most popular visitor destination in Wales with 18.3million visitors in 2010. In 2011, Cardiff was ranked sixth in the world in National Geographic's alternative tourist destinations.
The city of Cardiff is the county town of the historic county of Glamorgan (and later South Glamorgan). Cardiff is part of the Eurocities network of the largest European cities. The Cardiff Urban Area covers a slightly larger area outside the county boundary, and includes the towns of Dinas Powys and Penarth. A small town until the early 19th century, its prominence as a major port for the transport of coal following the arrival of industry in the region contributed to its rise as a major city.
By 1814, the existing Cardiff Gaol was deemed insufficient for coping with the both the scale of demand and quality of building to cope with the quickly expanding industrial town, and so proposals were made to build a new county jail for Glamorgan. Construction commenced in 1827, and the new stone building located south of Crockherbtown opened at the end of 1832, capable of housing 80 prisoners, including 20 debtors.
The three Victorian wings of Cardiff Prison underwent a major refurbishment programme in 1996, and the prison’s capacity was extended by the commissioning of three new wings (C, D and E), with the number of places for life-sentenced prisoners increased also.
In 1997 Cardiff Prison was criticised for chaining sick inmates to their hospital beds after a probe into the death of one of Cardiff's prisoners. Three years later one of Canterbury's Assistant Governors was found dead after an investigation into child pornography. The manager had been arrested at the prison days earlier by detectives investigating the alleged misuse of a personal computer.
Routes(ルーツ,Ruutsu) is an adult game originally produced by Leaf for the PC. It was the fourth volume in the Leaf visual novel Series, and was released in 2003, six years after the third, To Heart. The CD-ROM version was released on 28 February 2003, whereas the DVD version, which contained additional CGs, was released on 28 November 2003.
A remake of the game was released by Aquaplus on 25 January 2007, for the PlayStation 2 and the PlayStation Portable. The remake for PlayStation 2 was entitled RoutesPE (Routes PE in Japan) while the PlayStation Portable port of the remake was named Routes PORTABLE in Japan. The new version had voice acting and was no longer rated 18+.
Yuasa Satsuki is featured as a partner character in Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Match, a fighting game developed by Aquaplus with characters from various Leaf games.
Plot outline
The story takes place in 21st Century Japan (approximately at the end of April 2010). The main character Nasu Souichi(那須 宗一) is a perfectly ordinary high school student, who tries to do as little as possible everyday, and sleeps though most of his classes, only ever to be woken up by his friend Yuasa Satsuki(湯浅 皐月). They believe they are living in a peaceful time, where no large wars are occurring.

Road Rage BIG MISTAKE especially dressed like that
Road Rage BIG Mistake! Audi driver drives straight into trouble after rushed impatient driving.
I was already established on the road with limited places to pass another vehicle. He should have stopped and waited at the junction until the road ahead of him was clear. His Path was Blocked by parked cars, road works and me coming the other way.
I eventually told him he had 60 seconds to move or I would call the police, pointing out that he had attempted to get in my vehicle. He suddenly saw sense, and I proceed on my way thanking him as I passed.
Why did he not drive past me in the first place, there was room as is shown at the end of the footage? I didn't need to move.
I will bet this Audi driver will do this again.
One day history will catch up with this muppet who thinks he's Mr. Big.

It is finally here, the last drivers eye view of 2022 has arrived, the Welsh Marches line from Shrewsbury to Cardiff Central on board one of Transport for Wales's loco hauled services. Our train will run non-stop to Hereford (45 minute distant) before continuing to call at Abergavenny, Cwmbran and Newport. As a bonus we continue along the South Wales Main Line into Cardiff.

If you want some inspiration for a staycation or adventure this year, you are in the right place! Zach and I had a lot of fun compiling all of our favourite adventures over the last two/three years living in the South of Wales. We talk about our top ten (it was reallly hard to pick!) hidden places that we have been to and would recommend to you guys. We have some waterfalls, some forests, beaches, free diving spots, quarries, you name it, we have it. So sit back, maybe get a pen and paper ready and hopefully you will become inspired to explore a bit more local this year!
Here is a full list of everywhere we mention:
1. Porth Y Rhaw Tidal Pool
2. The Witches Couldron
3. Nant Sere Waterfalls
4. Barafundle Bay
5. Cerrig Duon Stone Circles
6. Rosebush Quarry & Ffynone Wood Waterfalls
7. White Lady Cave
8. Worms Head
9. Torbay & Three Cliffs Beach
10. St Michaels Church
All these places are also in the best book ever- Wild Guide Wales: Hidden Places, Great Adventures and the Good Life by Daniel Start and Tania Pascoe so check that out if you want to know more info or how to properly find them!
Also- sorry if our pronounciation is off, we do try but having not been born and bred in Wales, it can be a little struggle at times!

UK: A Transport for Wales (TfW) Class 769 multiple unit (no. 769002) leaves Cardiff Queen Street on train 2D32, the 1148 Penarth to Bargoed service.
Clip recorded 11th March 2023.
The British Rail Class 769 Flex is a type of bi-mode multiple unit and tri-mode multiple unit which is currently being converted by Brush Traction, and running in service with Transport for Wales Rail and Northern Trains. The train is a conversion of the existing Class 319 electric multiple unit (EMU), a conventional unit type which had become surplus to requirements during the 2010s.
The conversion process is carried out by a partnership between the rolling stock leasing company Porterbrook and train manufacturer Brush Traction. The conversion principally involves the addition of a pair of MAN diesel engines (one under each driving trailer vehicle), the output of which is fed into ABB-provided alternators to power the existing electric traction systems. According to Porterbrook, the Class 769's performance under diesel power is either equal or superior to that of a Class 150 Sprinter diesel multiple unit (DMU), and the switchover between EMU and DMU modes can be carried out while the train is in motion.

Transport for Wales Rail Limited, branded as Transport for Wales and TfW Rail (Welsh: Trafnidiaeth Cymru and TrC Trenau), is a Welsh publicly owned train operating company, a subsidiary of Transport for Wales (TfW), a Welsh Government-owned company. It commenced operations of the day to day services of the Wales & Borders franchise on 7 February 2021, as an operator of last resort, succeeding KeolisAmey Wales. Transport for Wales Rail manages 248 National Rail stations, including all 223 in Wales, and operates all passenger mainline services wholly within Wales, and services from Wales, Chester, and Shrewsbury to Liverpool, Manchester, Manchester Airport, Crewe, Birmingham, Bidston and Cheltenham.

Valleys & Cardiff Local Routes (Welsh: Llwybrau Lleol y Cymoedd a Chaerdydd) (formerly Valley Lines) is the network of passenger suburban railway services radiating from Cardiff, Wales. It includes lines within the city itself, the Vale of Glamorgan and the South Wales Valleys.
The services are currently operated by Transport for Wales Rail. In total, it serves 81 stations in six unitary authority areas: 20 in the city of Cardiff, 11 in the Vale of Glamorgan, 25 in Rhondda Cynon Taf, 15 in Caerphilly, 8 in Bridgend and 5 in Merthyr Tydfil.
Services on these routes are provided by Class 150 DMUs and Class 769 bi-mode multiple units in Diesel mode. They are typically end-to-end, in that they run from one branch terminus, through Cardiff Queen Street station, to another branch terminus, e.g. from Pontypridd to Barry Island.
The major hubs of the network are Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Central. Other hubs are Pontypridd, Bridgend and Barry.

Big.

Cardiff Central railway station (Welsh: Caerdydd Canolog) is a major station on the South Wales Main Line, located in the capital of Wales, Cardiff. It is one of the city's two urban rail network hubs, along with Cardiff Queen Street. Opened in 1850 as Cardiff station, it was renamed Cardiff General in 1924, and then Cardiff Central in 1973.
The station is located at Central Square, in Cardiff city centre. The Grade II listed building is managed by Transport for Wales, and is both the largest and busiest station in Wales.
Cardiff Central is one of twenty railway stations in the city and one of two in the city centre, serving as a hub for the Valleys & Cardiff Local Routes. It is an interchange for services between South Wales, West Wales and North Wales, as well as other major British cities.
Transport for Wales operates services to most destinations in Wales and to Manchester; while CrossCountry operates trains to Gloucester, Birmingham and Nottingham. Great Western Railway runs all London Paddington intercity services via Bristol and to Swansea, as well as some regional services to Bath, Taunton and Portsmouth via Southampton Central.

This fasinating route was filmed over a year from November 2021 to October 2022 and so will see a variety of season changes. Sadly on the drivers eye view on some parts the sun was very low in the sky, not a cloud to be seen, so some shots maybe quite blinding. Nonetheless we have put in trackside shots, narration explaining the history (past and present) and captions on various locations with the Welsh names inprinted below.
Your continious support to this channel have always been appreciated over the years so please continue to like, comment and if you haven't done so already, subscribe to this channel for more drivers eye views that you wish to see in the future. For now, sit back and enjoy the ride down the Welsh Marches Line.

Whilst filming for otters in a Scottish river the photographer noticed something very strange when playing the video back.
In this 3 minute clip you can see there is something unusual happening in the trees.
