Jacques Morali (4July 1947 – 15November 1991) was a groundbreaking French Disco & Dance music singer/songwriter, producer, arranger and creator of novelty acts like The Ritchie Family and Village People.
Career
Beginning: in France
He made his start in the music business at the end of the 1960s, writing music for orchestras in Paris, for the Crazy Horse, for himself as a solo artist (he played in 1967 show "Elle aime, elle n'aime pas" and released a single of the same title) but also for performers like Peter Fersen. Viva Zapata (Venus VS-71451), one of his first French productions, was sung by "Clint Farwood" - a pseudonym for a member of King Harvest. In the early 1970s, he met French music producer Henri Belolo. But he thought quickly that his success in France was not as high as expected and started to try his luck in North America. Through meeting José Eber, Elizabeth Taylor and Cher's hairdresser, he became familiar with Philadelphia International Records. At the time, Morali proposed several projects to Belolo without convincing him.
Une saison en enfer (English: A Season in Hell) is Léo Ferré's last studio album. It sets into music the whole eponymous poem written in 1873 by French poet Arthur Rimbaud. The album was released in 1991 by EPM Musique (982 181), for the 100th anniversary of Rimbaud's death, both as double LP and CD. It was reissued in 2000 by Ferré's son's label La Mémoire et la Mer, under a new cover.
Unlike his previous musical works on poets such as Apollinaire (1954), Baudelaire (1957, 1967, 1987), Louis Aragon (1961), or Verlaine and Rimbaud (1964), Ferré chose here bareness in the arrangements (piano, whistling, claps of hands, and nothing more but the voice declaiming, whispering or chanting) to provide the illusion of a half-improvised music and keep the poem's "original spouting strength", and most of all express his own conception of oral poetry by letting himself being only guided by musicality of rimbadian prose itself.
Being connected with Rimbaud's poetic themes, Ferré gives an interpretation which "lightens" the meanings of the text.
"A Season in Hell" (French:Une Saison en Enfer) is an extended poem in prose written and published in 1873 by French writer Arthur Rimbaud. It is the only work that was published by Rimbaud himself. The book had a considerable influence on later artists and poets, including the Surrealists.
Writing and publication history
Rimbaud began writing the poem in April 1873 during a visit to his family's farm in Roche, near Charleville on the French-Belgian border. According to Bertrand Mathieu, Rimbaud wrote the work in a dilapidated barn. In the following weeks, Rimbaud travelled with poet Paul Verlaine through Belgium and to London again. They had begun a complicated homosexual relationship in spring 1872, and they quarreled frequently. Verlaine had bouts of suicidial behavior and drunkenness. When Rimbaud announced he planned to leave while they stayed in Brussels in July 1873, Verlaine fired three shots from his revolver, wounding Rimbaud once, and after subsequent threats of violence Verlaine was arrested and incarcerated to two years hard labour. After their parting, he returned home to complete the work and published A Season in Hell. However, when his reputation was marred because of his actions with Verlaine, he received negative reviews and was snubbed by Parisian art and literary circles. In anger, Rimbaud burned his manuscripts and likely never wrote poetry again.

What are his nets traps how does he surround him. with cold floods of abstraction and with forests of solitude to build him castles and high spires. Where kings and priests may dwell till she who burns with youth and no fixet lot. is bound.. in a spell of law to one she loaths? And must she drag the chain... of life in weary lust? "Must chilling murderous thoughts obscure the clear heaven of her eternal spring? To bear to wintry rage of harsh terror driv'n... to madness" Bound to hold a rod over her shrinking shoulders all the day and all the night to turn the whell of false desire and longings death wake her womb. To the ahborred birth of cherubs in the human form that live a pestilence an die. A meteor and are no more till child dwell with one he hates, and do the deed he loathes. And the impure scourge forge his seed
