The Most Beautiful ENGLISH villages in the COTSWOLDS - Part 1
Some of the most beautiful English villages can be found in the Cotswolds. This guide shows you Englands prettiest villages and historical properties from this beautiful part of England.
Our 2 part guide, starts in Castle Combe, voted the prettiest village in England a number of times. Hardly changed since the 16 hundreds, this sleepy village is also famous for being the backdrop in a number of films, including Steven Spielberg's War Horse and the 1967 classic Dr Dolittle.
Walking down by the river "By Brook", the weaver's cottages are the highlight. Home to the local weavers back in the 15th century, they were highly skilled craftsmen men and women and held high status in the village.

Jeremy Clarkson’s Farm exclusive tour & why you should buy British
HE has become Britain’s most famous farmer – and its unlikeliest – since his TV documentary Clarkson’s Farm became a smash hit.
Now petrolhead Jeremy Clarkson is finding out what it really takes to make a living from the land. And it is far harder — and more frustrating — than belting around in a half-a-million-pound supercar on his other TV show, The Grand Tour.
Teaming up with the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), Jeremy wants the Government to commit to Britain remaining at least 60 per cent self-sufficient in food. It has slipped from nearly 80 per cent in the 1980s.
Helping to launch the NFU’s new Food Report, Jeremy is also asking shoppers to buy British products, which he insists are better quality and greener.
He gave the Sun an exclusive tour of the Diddly Squat farm and showed o...

Moment couple's narrowboat sinks in 25 seconds at Fobney lock
The unfortunate incident happened in the Kennet and Avon Canal in Whitley, Berkshire. A couple were on the boat as it approached the lock, before the male got off to open the passageway. It was at this point that water began to pour into the boat and it started to sink. A woman had to be helped off the boat by a couple who were fishing at the canal. The boat sank so quickly the couple were unable to rescue any of their possessions in time.

Bibury is not to be missed on any trip to the Cotswolds. Possibly the most beautiful chocolate box village in the Cotswolds and noted as such by William Morris when he visited. The Arlington Row is the highlight of the visit and again seen in movies like Stardust and Bridget Jones Diary. It can get very busy here so suggest you come early morning or late afternoon when the tour buses have passed.

Burford has a sweeping long high street with delightful shops, antiques and tearooms. The 15th-century parish church of St. John Baptist is a magnificently preserved example and should not be missed whilst in the town.

Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2016 | The quintessence of charming England is the “West Country”: quaint Cotswold villages with their fine churches, manor homes, and gastropubs; Wells, England’s smallest cathedral town; and the New Age capital of Glastonbury, with its legends of the Holy Grail and King Arthur. We'll finish by pondering the dramatic prehistoric stone circles of Stonehenge and Avebury. #england #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope

This video is Day 1 of a 3 day trip to The Cotswolds, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in south, central England. On Day 2 I explored 5 beautiful villages and walked through the stunning surrounding landscape. On Day 3 I travelled to Cirencester, which was an important Roman settlement. From there I set out to find the start of The Thames!
When planning this trip, I decided to spend a bit more time travelling to save money. Train travel can be expensive, but there are ways of making it cheaper. Some lines have fares that do not change, but other train operators offer discounts for travelling off peak, or on non direct trains. It may mean you will have to change down the line and wait at a small station, but this did save me £20 on a single journey.
When I arrived to The Cotswolds I bought a 3 day bus/train pass which I used from Oxford. This cost me £25, which was great value. However do not expect regular buses and in some cases there are only 1 or 2 buses running to a particular village a day. Over the 3 days this pass saved me about £30.
On Day 1, I got 2 buses and 1 coach, 2 tubes, 3 trains and a lift in a car from the campsite owner! This cost me £26 (+£25 3 day Cotswolds pass), which was less than 1 high speed train I could have booked from Canterbury to London! This shows that spending a bit of time researching the options, can save you money.
I stayed at Far Peak Camping www.farpeakcamping.co.uk
The campsite is about 1 mile South West of Northleach village, so be prepared to walk if you do not have a car as there are few taxis in the area. It is a scenic walk!
I hope you enjoyed this video, please Subscribe if you did and watch Day 2 and Day 3 when I upload them in a 1 week!

He gave the Sun an exclusive tour of the Diddly Squat farm and showed off several new additions to his estate.
