Another General Election was required to take place before the end of 1940. The political parties had been making preparations for an election to take place and by Autumn 1939, the following candidates had been selected;
Oxford (/ˈɒksfərd/) is a city in the South East region of England and the county town of Oxfordshire. With a population of 159,994 it is the 52nd largest city in the United Kingdom, and one of the fastest growing and most ethnically diverse. Oxford has a broad economic base. Its industries include motor manufacturing, education, publishing and a large number of information technology and science-based businesses, some being academic offshoots. The city is known worldwide as the home of the University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Buildings in Oxford demonstrate notable examples of every English architectural period since the late Saxon period. Oxford is known as the "city of dreaming spires", a term coined by poet Matthew Arnold.
History
Medieval
Oxford was first settled in Saxontimes and was initially known as "Oxenaforda", meaning "Ford of the Oxen" (according to the English Place-Name Society, who base their result on a passing reference in Florence of Worcester's work "Chronicon ex chronicis"); fords were more common than bridges at that time. It began with the establishment of a river crossing for oxen around AD 900. In the 10th century, Oxford became an important military frontier town between the kingdoms of Mercia and Wessex and was on several occasions raided by Danes.
Oxford is a city in, and the county seat of, Lafayette County, Mississippi, United States. Founded in 1837, it was named after the British university city of Oxford in hopes of having the state university located there, which it did successfully attract.
As of the 2010 US Census, the population is 18,916; the Census Bureau estimates the city's 2013 population at 20,865. Oxford is the home of the University of Mississippi, founded in 1848, also commonly known as "Ole Miss".
Oxford has been named by USA Today as one of the top six college towns in the nation. It is included in The Best 100 Small Towns in America. Lafayette County consistently leads the state rankings in the lowest unemployment rate per quarter. Oxford City Schools are ranked as "Star" schools, the highest ranking available, and Lafayette County school systems are consistently ranked as "5-star" systems.
History
Oxford and Lafayette County were formed from lands ceded by the Chickasaw in the treaty of Pontotoc Creek in 1832. The county was organized in 1836, and in 1837 three pioneers—John Martin, John Chisom, and John Craig—purchased land from Hoka, a female Chickasaw landowner, as a site for the town. They named it Oxford, intending to promote it as a center of learning in the Old Southwest. In 1841, the Mississippi legislature selected Oxford as the site of the state university, which opened in 1848.
The Oxford weave has a basketweave structure and a lustrous aspect making it a popular fabric for a dress shirt.
Varieties
Varieties in the cloth are the plain Oxford, the Pinpoint Oxford and the more formal Royal Oxford. While these first two are more often paired with casual shirt designs like a button-down collar, the third type is a more versatile weave that can be paired with either business or sporty dress codes.
Oxford is a residential town located in western New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 12,683 at the 2010 Census. Oxford is the 26th wealthiest town in Connecticut by median household income. Distinct settled areas in the town include Oxford Center, Quaker Farms, and Riverside. Oxford belongs to the Naugatuck Valley Economic Development Region and the Central Naugatuck Valley Planning Area, and the Bridgeport–Stamford–NorwalkMetropolitan Statistical Area. Some of Oxford's unofficial nicknames, used often by the town's residents, are: O-Town, Oxhood, and The Miami of the Naugatuck Valley. A little-known fact about Oxford is that international rap superstar Aubrey "Drake" Graham actually hails from the town-- when he references "The Six" in some of his songs, he is actually referring to Oxford. "The Six" refers to the first two digits of the town's ZIP code, 06478.
History
In the 18th century, farmers herded livestock through Oxford from as far away as Litchfield on the way to the port of New Haven. In the 19th century, the town lost population as farmers moved to work in better-paying factories.
Leader of the House of Commons Jacob Rees-Mogg was accused of being contemptuous for reclining across the seats in the chamber.

George Galloway: 'I despise the prime minister'
Sky's deputy political editor Sam Coates spoke to George Galloway who has just been elected MP for Rochdale.
He was asked to respond to these words in the PM's speech about extremism: "It is beyond alarming that last night the Rochdale by-election returned a candidate who dismisses the horror of what happened on October 7th, who glorifies Hezbollah and is endorsed by Nick Griffin, the racist former leader of the BNP."

He outlines that his talk will be about Britain rather than the rest of the world. During the Second World War Winston Churchill was invited by his own foreign secretary, Lord Halifax to make peace with Hitler, a surrender peace with Hitler. Churchill said he would rather everyone be choking on their own blood than to have Great Britain surrender to the Nazi's. If Britain had been invaded and Churchill escaped death then he would have retreated to the hills to organise the British resistance. He makes this point as there are so many people in Britain that don't understand that any people who have had their homeland invaded and occupied by others feels exactly the same.
He speaks of his past mentioning that he nearly came to blows with Tony Blair in the corridors of Oxford University, saying that if he invaded Iraq the fall of Baghdad wouldn't be the beginning of the end but would be the end of the beginning.
He goes on to say that the United Kingdom could be no more as of September 2014 because of Scotland's hatred for the Tory rule of the UK. He says the Labour party and Tory parties are like two cheeks of the same backside, so close together they don't differ in opinion on any of the big issues such as immigration, benefits, the economy.
Moving on if you are caught pickpocketing in London you go to prison but bankers who squander millions of pounds damaging the British economy remain unpunished. Some sources around Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, suggest that there are still £100Billion avoided and evaded in income tax every year from the biggest earners and corporations in Britain. If we got that tax there would be no deficit, no need for cuts or tuition fees or a times of austerity.
He tells of how his phone was hacked and how the press in this country are rotten to the core for hacking the phone of Minnie Dowler, a girl who messages were still being answered long after she was dead giving her parents false hope.
Our leaders make us a hated nation; the people don't believe anything politicians say anymore due to countless broken promises. George Galloway concludes by saying we should open our eyes to the state of our nation and to reject the state of mediocrity that British politics has become.

Dr Alan Renwick, the Unit's Deputy Director, and Professor Robert Hazell, its founding Director gave expert evidence to the House of Commons public bill committee that is examining the Parliamentary Constituencies Bill on 23 June 2020.
To ensure that the Boundary Commissions remain independent and impartial, Dr Renwick and Professor Hazell recommended that the bill be amended in order to provide new safeguards. They emphasised four key points:
1. the Commissioners should be appointed for a single, non-renewable eight-year term
2. they should be subject to requirements of political neutrality
3. the deputy chair of each Commission (a High Court judge) should sit on the appointments panel for other Commissioners
4. the appointing minister should be required to appoint only from the names recommended by the panel.

George Galloway opens by graciously thanking the Union and mentioning that the last time he spoke involved an encounter from an enraged student about Hugo Chavez.

ABOUT GEORGE GALLOWAY:
Few contemporary politicians have attracted as much controversy as George Galloway. A Labour MP from 1987 to 2003, he was an outspoken critic of the policies of Tony Blair and New Labour, in particular the decision to invade Iraq. Fiery comments such as "the best thing British troops can do is to refuse to obey illegal orders" saw Galloway expelled from the Labour Party. But Galloway returned to the political fray by founding the Respect Party and winning Bethnal Green and Bow in the 2005 General Election. Mr Galloway re-entered Parliament in this March as MP for Bradford West and has recently provoked controversy and criticism with his comments on the rape charges against Wikileaks' Julian Assange.

Britain's constitution is based on precedence, convention, and statutory law, some of which dates back to the Middle Ages, but most of which dates only from the turn of the 20th century. Britain's constitutional model has seen increasing scrutiny with the issues of electoral reform, the role of the House of Lords, and the nature of the office of Prime Minister gaining ever-greater relevance. A string of constitutional crises, disproportionate electoral results, and changes in public opinion have raised serious questions about the United Kingdom's model of government; is it finally time for serious constitutional change?

Sky's deputy political editor Sam Coates spoke to George Galloway who has just been elected MP for Rochdale.
He was asked to respond to these words in the PM's speech about extremism: "It is beyond alarming that last night the Rochdale by-election returned a candidate who dismisses the horror of what happened on October 7th, who glorifies Hezbollah and is endorsed by Nick Griffin, the racist former leader of the BNP."
