Kim Wilde (born Kim Smith; 18 November 1960) is an English pop singer, author, DJ and television presenter who burst onto the music scene in 1981 with her debut single "Kids in America", which reached number two in the UK. In 1983, she received the Brit Award for Best British Female. In 1986, she had a UK number two hit with her version of the Supremes' song "You Keep Me Hangin' On", which also went on to be a major US hit, topping the charts there in 1987. Between 1981 and 1996, she had 25 singles reach the Top 50 of the UK singles chart. Her other hits include "Chequered Love" (1981), "You Came" (1988) and "Never Trust a Stranger" (1988). In 2003, she collaborated with Nena on the song "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime", which topped the Dutch charts.
Worldwide, she has sold over 10 million albums and 20 million singles. Starting in 1998, while still active in music, she has branched into an alternative career as a landscape gardener.
The eldest child of 1950s rock 'n' roller Marty Wilde (birth name Reginald Smith) and Joyce Baker, who had been a member of the singing and dancing group the Vernons Girls, Kim Smith was born in the West London suburb of Chiswick and attended Oakfield Preparatory School, in the Southeast London area of Dulwich. When she was nine, the family moved to Hertfordshire, where she was educated at Tewin and later Presdales School in Ware. In 1980, at age 20, she completed a foundation course at St Albans College of Art & Design. Kim Wilde, was signed to RAK Records by Mickie Most.
Kim Wilde is the eponymous debut studio album by British singer Kim Wilde, released in June 29, 1981 via RAK label.
The songs on the album were all written by Kim's father and successful 50s rock and roll singer Marty Wilde and by her younger brother Ricky Wilde and most of the music was played by the then current line-up of the symphonic rock band The Enid. Production duties were fulfilled by Ricky Wilde. The cover portraits were taken by renowned British photographer Gered Mankowitz.
Musically, the album was mainly new wave and rock-oriented, but it also featured a reggae track ("Everything We Know") and a brass section appeared on "2-6-5-8-0". Lyrically, Marty Wilde included love songs and also a song ("Water on Glass") about tinnitus (a medical condition that causes ringing in the ears), a song about the deterioration of inner cities ("Our Town") and a song about a theory that sound is alive ("Tuning in Tuning On").
The album entered the UK Albums Chart at No. 10, moving into the Top 3 the next week; the album was certified Gold by the BPI for sales exceeding 100,000 copies. During promotion, Kim's band consisted of Ricky Wilde, James Stevenson and later boyfriend Calvin Hayes, who also appeared on the sleeve of the album. Kim later commented that, at that time in the industry, it was passé for a female to attempt to launch a serious career in pop music on her own, and that the backing band had been shown on the sleeve to give credibility to the album. Still, she was accused of trying to copy the allure of US band Blondie. The album was released in North America on 6 April 1982, reaching No. 86 in the US and No. 42 in Canada.
"The Touch" is the second single from the 1984 Kim Wilde album Teases & Dares, released at the end of the year. It is generally regarded as one of Wilde's flop singles from a British point of view.
It was released as both a 7" and a 12" single. The 7" had a remix of the album version on side A, and a track written by Wilde herself on side B entitled "Shangri-La," also from the Teases and Dares album. Both tracks were extended for the 12" release. It also featured in the soundtrack of the American movie Secret Admirer.
The music video for "The Touch" features Wilde playing Cinderella.

"The Touch" is a rock song by American singer and guitarist Stan Bush. The song features prominently in the 1986 animated film The Transformers: The Movie, and appears on the soundtrack album released that year.
"The Touch" was released as a double A-side single with "Weird Al" Yankovic's "Dare to Be Stupid", another song from the soundtrack album of the Transformers movie. It was also released in 1987 on Stan Bush & Barrage's self-titled album. The song was inspired by a line in the movie Iron Eagle, and originally written for the Sylvester Stallone film Cobra. Its inclusion on the Transformers soundtrack was Bush's first exposure to the franchise.
In 1997, Bush re-recorded the song and "Dare" (another song from The Transformers: The Movie) for the BotCon exclusive soundtrack CD Til All Are One. Bush submitted a different re-recorded version of the song from his album In This Life for the 2007 live action Transformers film, but it was not included on the final soundtrack. He later recorded another version, subtitled "Sam's Theme", for possible inclusion in the 2009 sequel Revenge of the Fallen. The 2009 version differs markedly from the original and 2007 versions, adding rap verses and being more melancholic in tone, with it being described as a "redux a la Linkin Park". In 2010, Bush released a music video for "The Touch: Sam's Theme" on his YouTube channel, featuring clips from the first two Transformers films. The song was edited with the rap verses removed, and was included in the 2010 album Dream the Dream. The 2009 versions were poorly received.
The Adversary Cycle is a series of six novels written by American author F. Paul Wilson. Originally known as "The Nightworld Cycle" (this name is even printed in the front of some early editions of Nightworld), John Clute, in his section on F. Paul Wilson's work in The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction, kept referring to "the Adversary." The author liked that better and so renamed the cycle.
The six novels that comprise The Adversary Cycle are (in chronological order):
However, it is worth noting that the book series does not fall into a strict chronological order, with alternative orderings suggested. For example, Wilson's website suggests order of The Keep, Reborn, The Touch, The Tomb, Reprisal, and Nightworld.
The Tomb and The Touch were initially written as stand-alone novels; it is only in Nightworld that they were retroactively made part of the Cycle as their respective protagonists all come together to fight the final battle against the Otherness.

Looking out a dirty old window Down below the cars in the City go rushing by I sit here alone And I wonder why Friday night and everyones moving I can feel the heat But its soothing Heading down I search for the beat in this dirty town Down town the young ones are going Down town the young ones are growing We're the kids in america We're the kids in america Everybody live for the music-go-round Bright lights the music gets faster Look boy, don't check on your watch Not another glance I'm not leaving now, honey not a chance Hot-shot, give me no problems Much later baby you'll be saying never mind You know life is cruel, life is never kind Kind hearts don't make a new story Kind hearts don't grab any glory Come closer, honey thats better Got to get a brand new experience Feeling right...
