The Nab is a fell in the English Lake District. It has a moderate height of 576metres (1,890feet), and lies in the quieter eastern high ground between Ullswater and Haweswater Reservoir. The Nab is included in Alfred Wainwright's list of Lakeland fells and many walkers feel compelled to climb it to complete their list of 'Wainwrights' even though it is not a significant fell and is awkward to reach.
Topography
The Nab is a top on the northern ridge of Rest Dodd, one of the horseshoe of fells surrounding the Martindale catchment. It divides the valleys of Bannerdale and Rampsgill, which meet below the nose of the ridge to form How Grain. The sides of the ridge are steep and rough, but the top is broad and level. It is scarred by peat hags, some deeper than a man.
Access and history
When Alfred Wainwright wrote his pictorial guide to the Far Eastern Fells in the 1950s The Nab, as part of the Martindale Deer Forest was strictly out of bounds. He wrote in the chapter on The Nab:
The Nab is now open access under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 so things seem to have changed these days; there are still 'Private' notices posted, but the barbed wire and barricades have gone and walkers seem to be tolerated except during the stalking season. It is probably still a good idea to check with the Dalemain Estate (who administer the property) at their offices in Pooley Bridge to see if walking is allowed on a specific date.
An arrest is the act of depriving a person of their liberty usually in relation to the purported investigation or prevention of crime and presenting (the arrestee) to a procedure as part of the criminal justice system. The term is Anglo-Norman in origin and is related to the French word arrêt, meaning "stop".
Police and various other bodies have powers of arrest. In some places, the power is more general; for example in England and Wales, any person can arrest "anyone whom he has reasonable grounds for suspecting to be committing, have committed or be guilty of committing an indictable offence," although certain conditions must be met before taking such action.
The word "arrest" is Anglo-Norman in origin, derived from the French word arrêt meaning 'to stop or stay' and signifies a restraint of a person. Lexicologically, the meaning of the word arrest is given in various dictionaries depending upon the circumstances in which word is used. There are numerous slang terms for being arrested throughout the world. In British slang terminology, the term "nicked" is often synonymous with being arrested, and "nick" can also refer to a police station, and the term "pinched" is also common. In the United States and France the term "collared" is sometimes used. The term "lifted" is also heard on occasion.
Naboo is a planet in the fictional Star Warsuniverse with a mostly green terrain and which is the homeworld of two societies: the Gungans who dwell in underwater cities and the humans who live in colonies on the surface. Humans of Naboo have an electoral monarchy and maintain a peaceful culture that defends education, the arts, environmental protection and scientific achievements. The main capital of Naboo is Theed.
Located in the Chommell sector, Naboo is the home planet of Padmé Amidala and Jar Jar Binks, as well as Senator (later Supreme Chancellor and then Emperor) Palpatine. In Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, it was the site of a blockade by the Trade Federation and the Battle of Naboo between the Federation and the native inhabitants. Naboo is seen in four films in the Star Wars series, having a prominent role in the first two prequels and glimpsed briefly in Revenge of the Sith and the 2004 DVD release of Return of the Jedi. Its name originates from the Tunisian city of Nabeul (Formal Arabic pronunciation: Nābul; local Tunisian dialect: [ˈnɛːbil]), itself founded by Greek merchants naming it "Neapolis". This originated from the same inspiration that made another major planet in the original trilogy, Tatooine to be a namesake to the another Tunisian town, the desert city of Tataouine.

A walk in the Eastern part of the Lake District to three Fells, Rest Dodd, The Nab & Brock Crags. We also take in Angle Tarn as part of the walk.
The walk starts from the car park in the village of Hartsop and follows the clear track from the car park towards Hayeswater passing some nice waterfalls along the way.
We cross the wooden footbridge near the outflow of Hayeswater and start the climb up to Rest Dodd. The grassy path is easy to follow. We encounter some Red Deer on the way up to Rest Dodd.
The summit of Rest Dodd (696m) offers good views of the Eastern Fells and looking over to The Nab and beyond. From Rest Dodd we follow the path towards The Nab. The path drops from Rest Dodd towards a stone wall where a gap in the wall towards the right hand side. The path heads through the gap in the wall and continues towards The Nab. We see some more Red Deer at the start of this section of the path. The path over to The Nab is quite boggy in places with some peat hags to cross.
Once past the peat hags the going is easier up to the summit of The Nab (576m) From The Nab we re trace our steps back to the wall at the bottom of Rest Dodd and head to Angle Tarn. From Angle Angle Tarn we make the short walk over to Brock Crags (561m) We then follow the good path down from Brock Crags back towards Hartsop. Distance is around 8 miles.

Come all you jolly sailor lads that ne´er went out to sea Of a ship that called the Annie B. I will sing in praise to thee She was a famous one-mast-ship, the pride of Sydney-Quay She carried a crew of a 102 a dog named Billy and me The skipper was an Irishman he hailed from West-Belfast And a dutchman was the sailor called the man behind the mast The navigator was a bum, his nose was red as tart Out mate was a small Russian guy, knew every pub on the chart A prisoner was our cook before we sailed away He always served the whiskey pure 3 times and more a day The morning we left Sydney-Town our ship ran short of wind We had to get right out of the wet and eve´ryone shove behind When going around the Silver-Reef a terrible storm now blew We tightened her sails with a horses reign and steered for Timbuktoo But out cargo shifted, We´re done! cried Captain Lee And a 102 sailors Billy and me jumped into the deep blue sea Hey hey ho and the winds do blow did I tell you girl I love you so?
