Hamilton JournalNews was a daily broadsheet newspaper based in Hamilton, Ohio owned by Cox Media Group. The paper covered news in Hamilton and outlying areas. In September 2013, Cox Media Group Ohio announced that, effective November 1, the Hamilton JournalNews would be merged with The Middletown Journal into a new paper, the Journal-News.
Awards
The Hamilton JournalNews brought award-winning news and information to readers in the Hamilton area since 1886. More than once it was named Best Newspaper in Ohio by The Ohio Society of Professional Journalists for its circulation. The paper also received the first-place General Excellence Award by the Associated Press.
History
The newspaper has a long history going back as far as 1879:
Dec. 11, 1879 debut of the Hamilton Daily News
Dec. 20, 1886 debut of the Daily Democrat (an upgrade of the weekly Butler County Democrat)
June 18, 1902 debut of the Hamilton Daily Sun
Aug. 12, 1907 merger of dailies Democrat and Sun form the Hamilton Democrat-Sun
The Journal News was created through a merger of several daily community newspapers serving the three counties.
Although the current newspaper's name comes from the Rockland Journal-News, which was based in West Nyack, N.Y., and served Rockland County, the Rockland Journal-News was actually the third-largest newspaper that Gannett merged to create the larger newspaper. The Reporter Dispatch from White Plains, N.Y., and the Herald Statesman in Yonkers, N.Y. were larger and served Westchester County. For years prior to the October 12, 1998, merger that created The Journal News, ten of the newspapers shared substantial content and printing presses.
Gannett acquired nine of the newspapers in 1964 from the Macy family and added The Star in Peekskill, N.Y., in 1985. These newspapers previously appeared on newsstands in the evening. In 1989, Gannett created a morning edition for Putnam County, Westchester, and the Bronx called The Sunrise, but it folded after a year. Today, The Journal News appears in the morning like other New York dailies.
The Queen's Journal, or simply The Journal, the student newspaper published at Queen's University, Ontario, Canada
"The Journal" - commonly used, shortened title, for referencing of The Wall Street Journal, a New York-based English-language international daily newspaper.
The Journal was an independent, fortnightly, local newspaper originally produced by students at seven major higher and further education institutes in Edinburgh. It was distributed at a number of locations across the city's universities and colleges, as well as at bars and cafés throughout the Scottish capital.
A lawyer from Grant Thornton LLP was appointed Interim Liquidator of The Edinburgh Journal Ltd by interlocutor of the Sheriff of Lothian and Borders at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on July 23, 2015 and a creditors meeting was held on August 18, 2015. According to The Herald (Glasgow), The Journal ceased to trade in the first half of 2015, a winding up petition was lodged following non-payment of debts and the liquidator hopes to achieve the best outcome for 'creditors and other stakeholders'.
Background
The Journal was inaugurated in November 2007 as an independent newspaper aimed primarily at students attending seven higher education institutes in the city: the University of Edinburgh, Napier University, Heriot-Watt University, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh College of Art, Telford College and Stevenson College. The publication covered a variety of topics including local news and events, academic developments, national student news, and national politics, as well as university and professional sport across Edinburgh. It also included sections of commentary and feature writing, alongside reviews of local arts events. The publication was independent of all its target institutions, and was not affiliated with their associated students' unions. The publication was funded through advertising sales and subscriptions.
The Journal is a daily newspaper produced in Newcastle upon Tyne. Published by ncjMedia, (a division of Trinity Mirror), The Journal is produced every weekday and Saturday morning and is complemented by its sister publications the Evening Chronicle and the Sunday Sun.
The newspaper mainly has a middle-class and professional readership throughout North East England, covering a mixture of regional, national and international news. It also has a daily business section and sports page as well as the monthly Culture magazine and weekly property supplement Homemaker.
News coverage about farming is also an important part of the paper with a high readership in rural Northumberland.
It was the named sponsor of Tyne Theatre on Westgate Road during the 2000s, until January 2012.
The first edition of the Newcastle Journal was printed on 12 May 1832, and subsequent Saturdays, by Hernaman and Perring, 69 Pilgrim Street, Newcastle. On 12 May 2007, The Journal celebrated its 175th Anniversary and 49,584th issue.

An inspiration for a real sensation. Emancipation of my soul. And my fixation is some information on this part's relation to the whole. My aspiration is pure meditation: self-realization that's the goal! But nonsense information breaks my concentration, mundane sound vibration is taking control! Before I want to hear your news, I want the news on me. Been caught up so long in all of life's hype, I haven't had time to see that beneath the disguise the real self lies which needs a soul satisfying activity. No, I don't want to hear your news. I want the news on me. Turn down that noise! Who are we essentialy? Beneath the smiles, profiles, and styles, lies individuality. No more immense pretense, I'll take down my fence. I want to know the real me. No more acts, I just want some facts on the soul's real personality. But that news confuses, misconstrues, and abuses. It blocks my view from what I
