Residence of Ba Jin Shanghai / 巴金故居
The Former Residence of Ba Jin / 巴金故居, located at 113 Wukang Road in the Xuhui District of Shanghai, was the residence of the Chinese writer Ba Jin (1904–2005). Located in the west part of the Shanghai French Concession area, it was originally built in 1923 in a Spanish style. Ba Jin lived there from 1955.

Ep 66 - Ba Jin and Hong Kong Nights with Luo Tianqi
The rocking of the boat created the illusion that all the lights were moving
In the sixty sixth episode of The Translated Chinese Fiction Podcast we are adrift in Hong Kong Nights (https://www.cuhk.edu.hk/rct/pdf/e_outputs/b2930/v29&30P054.pdf) (香港之夜 / Xiāng Gǎng Zhīyè), as fleetingly recollected by Sichuan’s long-surviving left-anarchist writer, Ba Jin (https://paper-republic.org/pers/ba-jin/) . Joining me in the constellations is fellow Sino-lit podcaster Luo Tianqi (https://www.tianqiluo.com/episodes) – here to talk about revolution, regret, and responsibility. Grab a seat on deck, comrade, brush up on your Bakunin, and let go of your transient identity as sights become sounds, and sounds become sights.

Why are there so many variations of this routine?
➡️ Practicing without clear intent is useless, no matter which form you choose.
➡️ This video is one of the more simple forms that I practice. Easy to remember, clear to execute.
➡️ You want more beautiful variations, go ahead. But understand the purpose of simplicity first.

The residence opened to the public as a writer's home museum in December 2011. The house contains a collection of books, manuscripts, and photographs.
Ba Jin's wife, Xiao, died of cancer in 1972 during the time of the Cultural Revolution, having been denied medical treatment. He kept her urn by his bed in the house. In his later years, his granddaughter, Duan Duan, lived with him, sleeping in the same bedroom. He found reading newspapers increasingly difficult, so he listened to the news on the radio in the morning and on television in the lounge each evening.
