The Eye of the World

The Eye of the World (abbreviated as tEotW or EotW by fans) is the first book of The Wheel of Time (WoT) fantasy series written by American author Robert Jordan. It was published by Tor Books and released on January 16, 1990. The unabridged audio book is read by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading. Upon first publication, The Eye of the World consisted of one prologue and 53 chapters, with an additional prologue authored upon re-release.

On January 2, 2002, The Eye of the World was re-released as two separate books aimed at a young adult literature market, with larger text and a handful of illustrations. These were From the Two Rivers and To the Blight. The former included an additional prologue entitled "Ravens", focusing on Egwene al'Vere. The American Library Association put The Eye of the World on its 2003 list of Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults.

The World (archipelago)

The World or The World Islands (Arabic: Juzur al-Alam) is an artificial archipelago of various small islands constructed in the rough shape of a world map, located in the waters of the Persian Gulf, 4.0 kilometres (2.5 mi) off the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The World islands are composed mainly of sand dredged from Dubai's shallow coastal waters, and are one of several artificial island developments in Dubai. The World's developer is Nakheel Properties, and the project was originally conceived by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai.

Construction of the 300 islands began in 2003, only to halt due to the 2008 financial crisis. Though 60 percent of the islands had been sold off to private contractors back in 2008, development on most of these islands has failed to initiate. As of late 2013, only two of the islands had been developed. In January, 2014, Kleindienst Group announced the launch of "The Heart of Europe" project; by February, 2014, one of Kleindienst Group's brands - JK Properties' announced in their monthly newsletter that the project was "well underway". The first of these series of islands will be Europe, Sweden and Germany with development led by Kleindienst Group, the Developer for The Heart of Europe project.

PRI's The World is a global news radio, audio and multi-platform program created by Public Radio International based on the program's congruence with PRI's mission, and in order to fulfill the critical need for more original global news created for and provided to Americans. This was partly a response to declining investments by commercial media in international news. The program is co-produced by the BBC World Service of the United Kingdom, and Public Radio International and WGBH of the United States. The program's goal is to bring international journalism/news that illuminates the world specifically for US listeners.

The World was PRI's first co-production—the company now has a number of productions. It was also the first news co-production of the BBC World Service. For the BBC, The World was conceived as stand-alone program and also as a template for future co-productions which might serve to expand the reach of BBC World Service resources. At its launch, it was the first program dedicated to focusing on providing global news and making the global-local connection for Americans on a daily basis.

A music video to accompany the release of "The World" was first released onto YouTube on 7 February 2013 at a total length of three minutes and fifty-four seconds.

The music video starts off in the future( 25 March 2063 ), a grandma is passing away, her family surrounding her. She looks up and sees someone in the room, no one else can see this person. He puts out his hand and she takes it which takes her into a travel through her life and becomes young again. Then we find out that her and Angel once were lovers and we go though all these moments of her life until Angel died. After Angel's death, we can see that the young women is devastated while Angel ( as an angel) watches over her.

Eye (Centaur Publications)

The Eye is a fictional comic book character created by Frank Thomas and published by Centaur Publications. The character had no origin story, and existed only as a giant, floating, disembodied eye, wreathed in a halo of golden light. This powerful being was obsessed with the concept of justice, and existed to encourage average people to do what they could to attain it for themselves. If the obstacles proved too great, the Eye would assist its mortal charges by working miracles. Time and space meant nothing to the Eye and it existed as a physical embodiment of man's inner conscience.

Publishing history

The Eye appeared in the pages of Centaur's Keen Detective Funnies for 16 issues (cover-dated Dec. 1939 - Sept. 1940), in a feature entitled "The Eye Sees". The feature began with the book's 16th issue, and continued until the title folded after its 24th issue (September, 1940). Following its run in Keen Detective, Centaur promoted the Eye to its own book, Detective Eye, which ran for two issues (Nov.-Dec. 1940) before folding as well.

The Eye, also known as Seeing Ghosts, is a 2002 Hong Kong-Singaporean horror film directed by the Pang brothers. The film spawned two sequels by the Pang brothers, The Eye 2 and The Eye 10. There are three remakes of this film, including Naina, made in 2005 in India, starring Urmila Matondkar and produced by Shripal Morakhia, Sagar Pandya, Anjum Rajabali, and Rakesh Mehra, and The Eye, a 2008 Hollywood production starring Jessica Alba and produced by Peter Chan and Paula Wagner.

Plot

Blind since the age of two, 20-year-old Hong Kong classical violinist Mun undergoes an eye cornea transplant after receiving a pair of new eyes from a donor. Initially, she is glad to have her sense of sight restored but becomes troubled when she starts seeing mysterious figures that seem to foretell gruesome deaths. The night before her discharge from hospital, she sees a shadowy figure accompanying a patient out of the room and the next morning the patient is pronounced dead.

The World Islands in Dubai are a construction and engineering wonder, they're also mostly deserted islands. These man-made islands, which cost an estimated $14 Billion to build, were constructed via a method called "land reclamation". In 2003, Sheikh Mohammed unveiled The World Islands. This mega project was planned to consist of nearly 300 small, artificial islands constructed to resemble a map of the world. Located in the waters of the Persian Gulf, just 4 kilometers off the coast of Dubai, the construction of the World Islands began in September 2003. The islands were to be composed of nearly 321 million cubic meters of sand dredged from Dubai's shallow coastal waters and 31 million metric tons of rock, all of which would be surrounded by an oval-shaped breakwater island. A vast majority of the islands were purchased by large commercial groups. However, fast forward to today, and most of The World Islands are still empty and there is hardly any development. In fact, there are only 2 or 3 islands that are completely functional and available for commercial use. 17 years and $14 billion later, the 300 artificial islands now sit vacant, most of them bare and completely undeveloped. So what happened with this extraordinary project? Did it fail? Or is there still hope? Today, although the status of the World islands remains uncertain, development work has started on a few islands. The most noticeable project currently being built in The World Islands is the $5 billion dollar Heart of Europe project being developed by the Kleindienst Group. This ambitious project aims to develop European-themed luxury tourist resort that will have many attractions including a Raining Street, where it will rain artificially whenever the temperature rises above 27 degrees Celsius, an outdoor snow plaza, and the first underwater hotel. The Phase One opening of the Heart of Europe will consist of Sweden Beach Palaces, Germany Villas, heart-shaped Honeymoon Island, Portofino Hotel and the Cote d'Azur Resort. The World Islands in Dubai are a construction and engineering wonder, they're also mostly deserted islands. These man-made islands, which cost an estimated $14 Billion to build, were constructed via a method called "land reclamation". In 2003, Sheikh Mohammed unveiled The World Islands. This mega project was planned to consist of nearly 300 small, artificial islands constructed to resemble a map of the world. Located in the waters of the Persian Gulf, just 4 kilometers off the coast of Dubai, the construction of the World Islands began in September 2003. The islands were to be composed of nearly 321 million cubic meters of sand dredged from Dubai's shallow coastal waters and 31 million metric tons of rock, all of which would be surrounded by an oval-shaped breakwater island. A vast majority of the islands were purchased by large commercial groups. However, fast forward to today, and most of The World Islands are still empty and there is hardly any development. In fact, there are only 2 or 3 islands that are completely functional and available for commercial use. 17 years and $14 billion later, the 300 artificial islands now sit vacant, most of them bare and completely undeveloped. So what happened with this extraordinary project? Did it fail? Or is there still hope? Today, although the status of the World islands remains uncertain, development work has started on a few islands. The most noticeable project currently being built in The World Islands is the $5 billion dollar Heart of Europe project being developed by the Kleindienst Group. This ambitious project aims to develop European-themed luxury tourist resort that will have many attractions including a Raining Street, where it will rain artificially whenever the temperature rises above 27 degrees Celsius, an outdoor snow plaza, and the first underwater hotel. The Phase One opening of the Heart of Europe will consist of Sweden Beach Palaces, Germany Villas, heart-shaped Honeymoon Island, Portofino Hotel and the Cote d'Azur Resort.
