Beautiful Places In The Shropshire Hills
Beautiful Places In The Shropshire Hills//We are back at exploring the most beautiful places in the UK and although we live right by the Shropshire border, we haven't been to the Shropshire Hills before. What can we say? Absolutely stunning. We first went to beautiful Stokesay Castle which not many people have on their radar but it's a must see. It's the last season of excavations at Nesscliffe Hill Camp Hillfort dating back thousands of years. They have found some really exciting things and it is a wonderful place to explore. Baby Tansy and I walked up through the tall redwoods and other trees to the summit to see our archaeology friends, the ancient prehistoric remains and the showstopping view from Oliver's Point #nesscliffe #shropshire

Walks in Shropshire: Exploring Ludlow
Harriet, Lola and I are taking a walk through the historic market town of Ludlow in Shropshire.
Ludlow is a market town in Shropshire, England, 28 miles (45 km) south of Shrewsbury and 23 miles (37 km) north of Hereford via the main A49 road, which bypasses the town. With a population of approximately 11,000, Ludlow is the largest town in south Shropshire. The town is significant in the history of the Welsh Marches and neighbouring Wales.

Clun is the smallest town in Shropshire and the only one not to have railway line or station, or so I read It has a castle, a 14th century pack horse bridge and a host of fabulous historic houses. I walk around the town to explore it.

SHROPSHIRE SHEEP
The exact origins of the Shropshire sheep breed are unclear but we have a good suspicion they are from Shropshire! The breed was developed in the early 19th century. The developers of the Shropshire breed were inspired by the success of the Leicester Longwool sheep and so made their own breed using the same method of 'selective breeding'.

The Dana Historic Shrewsbury Street Names
Go to; http://sabsshrewsbury.blogspot.com/2017/11/the-dana-historic-shrewsbury-street.html and http://shrewsburylocalhistory.org.uk/dana.htm
The Dana Street name explained. Steps, path or street. (It is also the name of the Medieval Shrewsbury Prison.)
The Dana is one of the more intriguing Shrewsbury place names, especially for visitors! It starts as a walkway from Castle Street, continues round the Castle and across the railway, and then becomes a street skirting the Prison until it merges with Victoria Street. The Dana (pronounced ‘Danner’, not ‘Darner’) is named after Rev Edmund Dana (1739-1823), who was Vicar of Wroxeter, Eaton Constantine, Harley and Aston Botterell, all apparently at the same time!

'Victorian' Town Halls... what where they originally?
Battersea Arts Centre used to be Battersea Town Hall. Many other town halls are of a similar design... very heavy stone, arches, domes... Abbey Mills in Stratford, London is a Victorian Pumping Station, built to shift sewage as London slopes from South to North. There are a few of these pumping stations supposedly built when Bazelguette fixed London's sewage issue. They bear a remarkable resemblance to town halls.
I think many of these town halls are re purposed functional buildings.
Also, the similarity to Islamic architecture is striking.

The British Class System Explained
The British Class System is something that all British people are subconciously molded in from birth. Yet very few actually reflect on how tragic, or, in some cases, wonderful, it is. To those abroad, particuarly those from continential Europe, it is a stunning system to behold.. and mystery as to why it still exists. Little do they realise, it's a mystery to us too, or at least, the few of us who actually reflect on it.
In this production I'll be explaining my interpretation of how the British Class System operates. Of course, I will have my own personal biases, which will become immediately self evident. But such biases do not exist without good reason.. and believe me, there is good reason.

Bramber Castle
Bramber castle is one of the earliest Norman castles in England. A ruin now, it was once an important outpost of Norman rule in England. It was originally built in 1073 by William de Braose, the first Lord of Bramber. Its purpose was the defense of the important port city of Steyning and the River Adur, as well as the seat of the important de Braose family.

Hi everybody and welcome to this fourth and final video in a series titled What Is The British Constitution & What Is British Common Law? Origins In English Common Law.
In this chapter, we will be looking at how the Anglo-Saxon law we looked at in part 3 evolves after the Norman conquest into English Common Law, the foundation of all common law and the legal system of the UK. Building upon the nature of Anglo-Saxon law, successive Norman monarchs will turn this law into an English common law, practiced across the whole of England the same, from a central place. Most importantly of all, we will look at the reforms of Henry II which established so many of the country's contemporary institutions and practices.

The Woman King is a 2022 American alternate history film about the Agojie, the all-female warrior unit that protected the West African kingdom of Dahomey during the 17th to 19th centuries. Set in the 1820s, the film stars Viola Davis as a general who trains the next generation of warriors to fight their enemies. It is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and written by Dana Stevens, based on a story she wrote with Maria Bello. The film also stars Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and John Boyega.
Bello conceived the idea for The Woman King in 2015 after visiting Benin, where the kingdom used to be located, and learning the history of the Agojie. She recruited Cathy Schulman to develop it into a feature film, pitching it to several studios, who turned it down due to financial concerns. After they met with TriStar Pictures in 2017, the film was greenlit in 2020. Production began in South Africa in November 2021, shut down due to the COVID-19 Omicron variant a few weeks later, and resumed in early 2022. Polly Morgan was the cinematographer. During post-production, the musical score was composed by Terence Blanchard, and editing was completed by Terilyn A. Shropshire.
The Woman King had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2022, and Sony Pictures Releasing released the film in theaters in the United States on September 16, 2022. Following the festival screening, the film received positive reviews from critics, who praised Davis's performance and the action choreography.[4] Organizations like the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute named it as one of the top ten films of 2022.

This article is about a community of trees. For other uses, see Forest (disambiguation).
For broader coverage of this topic, see Plant community.

A forest is a large area of land dominated by trees.[1] Hundreds of more precise definitions of forest are used throughout the world, incorporating factors such as tree density, tree height, land use, legal standing and ecological function.[2][3][4] According to the widely used[5][6] Food and Agriculture Organization definition, forests covered 4 billion hectares (9.9×109 acres) (15 million square miles) or approximately 30 percent of the world's land area in 2006.[4]
Forests are the dominant terrestrial ecosystem of Earth, and are distributed around the globe.[7] Forests account for 75% of the gross primary production of the Earth's biosphere, and contain 80% of the Earth's plant biomass. Net primary production is estimated at 21.9 gigatonnes carbon per year for tropical forests, 8.1 for temperate forests, and 2.6 for boreal forests.[7]
Forests at different latitudes and elevations form distinctly different ecozones: boreal forests around the poles, tropical forests around the Equator, and temperate forests at the middle latitudes. Higher elevation areas tend to support forests similar to those at higher latitudes, and amount of precipitation also affects forest composition.
Human society and forests influence each other in both positive and negative ways.[8] Forests provide ecosystem services to humans and serve as tourist attractions. Forests can also affect people's health. Human activities, including harvesting forest resources, can negatively affect forest ecosystems.[

In this series we are exploring what these two things are by looking at the history and fundamental nature of their character. We'll go back to Anglo-Saxon England, to see how Anglo-Saxon politics and Anglo-Saxon culture were really the same thing, and that through the idea of an English nation, Anglo-Saxon history gave birth to a unique constitution, that would later form the basis for a unique British nation.
What is the English constitution? What is English Common Law? What is Common Law for that matter!? Through English constitutional history, we can explore this development of English constitutional law and how this blossomed into British constitutional history and British constitutional law. From this original English constitution came a system that would draw many to it and produce a new nation and country of Anglo-British and Anglo-Britain, home to the Anglo-British constitution.
I hope you enjoy this British history lecture and if you would like to see more please like, share and subscribe.
