Roy Hogsed (born December 24, 1919 in Flippin, Arkansas; died March 1978) was an American country music and rockabilly singer. He is best known for his song "Cocaine Blues", which he took to number 15 on the country music charts in 1948. Although he was active in the music business for only seven years, "Cocaine Blues" has been widely covered.
The state of Tennessee is rooted in the Watauga Association, a 1772 frontier pact generally regarded as the first constitutional government west of the Appalachians. What is now Tennessee was initially part of North Carolina, and later part of the Southwest Territory. Tennessee was admitted to the Union as the 16th state on June 1, 1796. Tennessee was the last state to leave the Union and join the Confederacy at the outbreak of the U.S. Civil War in 1861. Occupied by Union forces from 1862, it was the first state to be readmitted to the Union at the end of the war.
"Welcome to the World", which single version featuring Kid Cudi is the second single from this album, released in February 2009 has reached #58 on the US Hot 100 and has debuted at number 96 in Australia's Aria Singles Chart and has peaked at number 42.

Roy Hogsed - Its More Fun That Way
Roy Hogsed (1919-1978) forged one of the most original sounds in postwar country music, a tight and exciting small group sound that often anticipated the energy and drive of rockabilly and rock 'n' roll. He is best remembered for his hit version of the notorious "Cocaine Blues" and most identified with the accordion and guitar lead and slapped-bass rhythm of his original Rainbow Riders Trio. Ironically, however, some of his best work, like "Snake Dance Boogie," "Let Your Pendulum Swing" and "Ain't A Bump In The Road" occurred in a looser, slightly larger band context. A good-time feel and infectious joy characterized his performances from start to finish. Unboxing Tennessee: What It's Like Living In Tennessee
Is Tennessee all a bunch of rednecks?
Does everybody in Tennessee listen to country music?
And does everyone in Tennessee have a truck with a gun rack?
We’ll answer those questions and a whole lot more. So grab your moonshine and yer huntin dog, we’re gonna unbox the state of Tennessee!
Well would you look at this. It’s a good ole fashioned fox hunt. The dogs are set loose to and then they try to find the scent of a fox. When they find a fox, the guys on horses will shoot it. It’s kind of an elite social status thing in Tennessee, and the tradition goes way back in this state’s history.
But not everyone in Tennessee is a fox hunter. In fact, the tradition is sort of dying out here. That’s because Tennessee isn’t the same state it once was. A lot of this state’s once proud traditions...

I ♥ Oldies
Tennessee Waltz ( 1959 ) - CONNIE FRANCIS - Lyrics
Written in 1946, first release in 1948.
I was waltzin' with my darlin' to the Tennessee Waltz
When an old friend I happened to see
Introduced her to my loved one
And while they were waltzinn'
My friend stole my sweetheart from me
I remember the night and the Tennessee Waltz
Now I know just how much I have lost
Yes, I lost my little darlin' the night they were playing
The beautiful Tennessee Waltz

A lot of this state’s once proud traditions are kinda going away in many areas. Which is a shame.
But more on that later. To get a complete overview of the state of Tennessee, we need to look at the state from a higher level, and then drill down into each region to learn more.
This is Tennessee. It’s a very long state, and an oddly shaped one, too. Tennessee borders 8 other states. That’s the most of any other state, except Missouri, which also borders 8 other states.
As you’ll see, the state can roughly be divided up into three separate areas. West Tennessee, Middle Tennessee and East Tennessee. These are called the Grand Divisions. Each region is way different than the other part, and the people who live in each region all have different backgrounds and cultures. Which makes Tennessee so special.
We'll talk about Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga and more.

But not everyone in Tennessee is a fox hunter. In fact, the tradition is sort of dying out here. That’s because Tennessee isn’t the same state it once was.

50s Hillbilly Version of American Patriotic Songs & Anti-Communist Song - Capitol Records - 1201 (1950) The war song, "Don’t Bite the Hand That’s Feeding You," was aimed at convincing immigrants of the importance of staying loyal to the United States during World War I.
The song was composed by Jimmie Morgan and the lyrics were written by Thomas Hoier.
The piece was published in New York in 1915 by Leo Feist.
Roy Clifton Hogsed (December 24, 1919, in Flippin, Arkansas - March 1978) relocated to San Diego at the beginning of his career, it was an American Country music singer.
He is best known for his song "Cocaine Blues", which he took to number 15 on the Country Music charts in 1948.
He was responsible for one of the most original sounds in post-war country music, often throwing in elements of the not-yet articulated styles of Rockabilly and Rock & Roll.
His Rainbow Riders Trio combined accordion, guitar and slapped-bass rhythm to help produce hits like his version of "Cocaine Blues."
Several other hits were made by him with a larger band format, including "Snake Dance Boogie," "Let Your Pendulum Swing," and "Ain't a Bump in the Road."
His career lasted from 1947, when he made his first singles for Coast Records to 1954, when he made his last record for Capitol.
He had a limited impact on the larger Country Music scene, largely because of his location in San Diego instead of another musical powerhouse like Nashville or L.A., but his music remains a fascinating anomaly regardless.
Although he was active in the music business for only seven years, "Cocaine Blues" has been widely covered.
Roy Hogsed co-wrote and was the first artist to record the song "Gonna Get Along Without You Now" (1951) made famous by Teresa Brewer (1952) Patience and Prudence (1956)
Skeeter Davis (1964) Trini Lopez (1967) and Viola Wills (1979).

The Arkansas-born, San Diego-based Hogsed's recording career was relatively brief, spanning 1947-54, and his greater impact may have been limited by his largely local orientation, but he left an uncommonly enjoyable legacy.
50s Hillbilly Bopper - Unissued Capitol Recording (1952) Producer Ken Nelson.
Recorded November17, 1952 at Capitol Recording Studio, 5515 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, California with Roy Hogsed (vocal, guitar, leader) Jasper Donald Hogsed (lead guitar, steel guitar, fiddle) Addison "Phil" Ransom (bass) Myron Sautier (piano) Roy Harte (drums)
