A surf break (also break, shore break, or big wave break) is a permanent (or semi permanent) obstruction such as a coral reef, rock, shoal, or headland that causes a wave to break, forming a barreling wave or other wave that can be surfed, before it eventually collapses. The topography of the seabed determines the shape of the wave and type of break. Since shoals can change size and location, affecting the break, it takes commitment and skill to find good breaks. Some surf breaks are quite dangerous, since the surfer can collide with a reef or rocks below the water.
Surf breaks may be defended vehemently by surfers, as human activities and constructions can have unintended and unpredictable consequences which can be either positive, negative, or unknown.
In 2008, surfers and environmentalists opposed a toll road project in Orange County, California that would have changed sediment patterns and affected the world-class Trestles surf break north of San Onofre State Beach which attracted 400,000 surfers in 2007.
The Persistence of Vision Raytracer, or POV-Ray, is a ray tracing program which generates images from a text-based scene description, and is available for a variety of computer platforms. It was originally based on DKBTrace, written by David Kirk Buck and Aaron A. Collins for the Amiga computers. There are also influences from the earlier Polyray raytracer contributed by its author Alexander Enzmann. POV-Ray is free and open-source software with the source code available under the AGPLv3. Many methods for generating the 3-D models are used, including a companion program "moray" for interactive modeling.
History
Sometime in the 1980s, David Kirk Buck downloaded the source code for a Unix raytracer to his Amiga. He experimented with it for a while, eventually deciding to write his own raytracer, named DKBTrace after his initials. He posted it to the "You Can Call Me Ray" bulletin board system in Chicago, thinking others might be interested in it. In 1987, Aaron A. Collins downloaded DKBTrace and began working on an x86-based port of it. He and David Buck collaborated to add several more features. When the program proved to be more popular than anticipated, they could not keep up with demand for more features. Thus, in July 1991 David turned over the project to a team of programmers working in the GraphDev forum on CompuServe. At the same time, he felt that it was inappropriate to use his initials on a program he no longer maintained. The name "STAR" (Software Taskforce on Animation and Rendering) was considered, but eventually the name became the "Persistence of Vision Raytracer", or "POV-Ray" for short.
Spiegelman has often described the reasoning and process that led Mouly to start the magazine: after the demise of Arcade, the '70s underground comics anthology he co-edited with Bill Griffith, and the general waning of the underground scene, Spiegelman was despairing that comics for adults might fade away for good, but he had sworn not to work on another magazine where he would be editing his peers because of the tension and jealousies involved; however, Mouly had her own reasons for wanting to do just that. Having set up her small publishing company, Raw Books & Graphics, in 1977, she saw a magazine encompassing the range of her graphic and literary interests as a more attractive prospect than publishing a series of books. At the time, large-format, graphic punk and New Wave design magazines like Wet were distributed in independent bookstores. Mouly had earlier installed a printing press in their fourth floor walk-up Soho loft and experimented with different bindings and printing techniques. She and Spiegelman eventually settled on a very bold, large-scale and upscale package. Calling Raw a "graphix magazine", they hoped their unprecedented approach would bypass readers' prejudices against comics and force them to look at the work with new eyes.
Raw is the second studio album by American hip hop recording artist Hopsin. The album was released on November 19, 2010, by Funk Volume. On the song 'Sag My Pants' Hopsin disses mainstream rappers Drake, Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, and Lupe Fiasco. He also disses the widowed wife of Eazy-E, Tomica Wright, vowing that he'll 'make sure no one signs with Ruthless Records again. Despite the release of the previous album, Gazing at the Moonlight, Hopsin considers Raw as his debut album. Upon release it peaked at number 46 on the BillboardHeatseekers Albums chart.
Raw is a 2006 live album by rock band Ra. Songs are taken from their former albums From One, and Duality. "Don't Turn Away" is a newly recorded track and is also included in their 2008 album Black Sun.
Vocalist Sahaj Ticotin broke the record for the longest single note for a male vocalist in a song, having held a high B for 24 seconds during "Skorn". Sahaj overtook the previous record of 20.2 seconds which was held by Morten Harket in his song "Summer Moved On". Ra released an e-card on September 12, 2006, where the song "Don't Turn Away" could be streamed. The entire album of Raw can be downloaded for free on Ra's website.
The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded Dreamy three stars and said that "The emphasis is on ballads on this Roulette LP...Harry "Sweets" Edison contributes some soft melodic trumpet but the focus is very much on the singer...This is nice music that deserves to be reissued."
Veins are classically thought of as being the result of growth of crystals on the walls of planarfractures in rocks, with the crystal growth occurring normal to the walls of the cavity, and the crystal protruding into open space. This certainly is the method for the formation of some veins. However, it is rare in geology for significant open space to remain open in large volumes of rock, especially several kilometers below the surface. Thus, there are two main mechanisms considered likely for the formation of veins: open-space filling and crack-seal growth.
Open space filling
Open space filling is the hallmark of epithermal vein systems, such as a stockwork, in greisens or in certain skarn environments. For open space filling to take effect, the confining pressure is generally considered to be below 0.5 GPa, or less than 3-5 kilometers. Veins formed in this way may exhibit a colloform, agate-like habit, of sequential selvages of minerals which radiate out from nucleation points on the vein walls and appear to fill up the available open space. Often evidence of fluid boiling is present. Vugs, cavities and geodes are all examples of open-space filling phenomena in hydrothermal systems.

December surf fishing can get tricky for many different reasons. There are many fish in the surf to catch, but if you don’t know what to target, what bait and rigs to use, and more, you could be leaving the beach emptyhanded. I compiled beach fishing knowledge, pictures, and footage from previous Decembers and packed them into this video to help you catch more fish from the beach this month. We will cover what fish to target in December when surf fishing, what bait and rigs to use, dropping water temperatures how they affect beach fishing, and more. And keep watching until the end of the video because I’m going to give you some pro tips for beach fishing.
Even though this information about December surf fishing is localized for my area, the tips and techniques can be used on any beach, and it can be used for any year you might be discovering this video, as fish don’t “trend” and the techniques will work whether is 2024 or some year in the future.
