State Highway 87 or SH 87 runs for 249.4 miles (401.4 km) between Galveston, Texas (at a terminus shared with Interstate 45 and Spur 342) to U.S. Highway 59 and U.S. Highway 84 in Timpson, Texas.
Highway 87 has a notable stretch between Sea Rim State Park and High Island, Texas that has been washed out repeatedly over the decades and has been closed continuously since 1990. Portions of this stretch were less than 100 feet (30 m) away from high tide in the 1990s. The storm surge from Hurricane Jerry which made landfall on October 15, 1989, left the highway in a state of disrepair.
While talk about rebuilding the destroyed segment of State Highway 87 happens from time to time (for example, in 1998), there is no serious effort underway to do so.
SH 87 was originally designated in 1926 from Orange to Milam. The route was the previously proposed SH 8A before being renumbered. By 1928, it extended to Port Arthur. By 1933, it extended again, this time to High Island. In 1939, it was extended to its current terminus in Timpson, and replaced the section of SH 124 from High Island to Galveston. In 1970, road machinery used in its construction accidentally dug up several cannonballs and crumbling kegs of black powder about 10 miles west of Sabine Pass. Further excavation eventually produced more kegs of black powder and several hundred cannonballs. The ammunition had been buried there by Confederate soldiers in what were the ditches of Fort Manhassett in 1865. Fort Manhassett was a series of earthworks constructed by the Confederacy in 1863 to defend the western approaches to Sabine Pass.
Highway 87 (AR 87, Ark. 87, and Hwy. 87) is a designation for multiple state highways in Arkansas.
Arkansas Highway 87 is a state highway of 14.0 miles (22.5 km) in Fulton County.
Its southern terminus is 5 miles (8.0 km) south of U.S. Highway 62 at Elizabeth where the road continues east as Fulton County Road 2 towards Mitchell. Its northern terminus is the Missouri state line 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Vidette where it continues as Missouri Supplemental Route AR.
Arkansas Highway 87 is a state highway that runs in Stone, Cleburne, Independence, Jackson, and White Counties.
AR 87 begins near Fifty-Six at AR 14. The route runs southeast to meet AR 66, AR 9, AR 5/AR 14 in Mountain View. The route runs with AR 5 until Wolf Bayou as Mountain View Road. AR 87 then angles north, following AR 25 until Concord. The route then becomes Floral Road until Pleasant Plains, when AR 87 meets AR 157 followed by US 167. AR 87 and US 167 continue as Batesville Boulevard, until the concurrency breaks. AR 87 then becomes a rural route through Jackson County. AR 87 enters Bradford, meeting AR 367 before terminating at US 67.
Texas /ˈtɛksəs/ (Spanish: Texas or Tejas [ˈtexas]) is a state in the United States of America. It is the second most populous and second largest state by area in the US. Geographically located in the south central part of the country, Texas shares an international border with Mexico to the south and borders the states of New Mexico to the west, Oklahoma to the north, Arkansas to the northeast, and Louisiana to the east. Texas has an area of 268,820 square miles (696,200 km2) and a growing population of over 27.5 million residents (July 2015).
Houston is the largest city in Texas and the fourth-largest in the United States, while San Antonio is the second largest in the state and seventh largest in the United States. Dallas–Fort Worth and Greater Houston are the fourth and fifth largest United States metropolitan statistical areas, respectively. Other major cities include Austin (the state capital) and El Paso. Texas is nicknamed the Lone Star State to signify Texas as a former independent republic, and as a reminder of the state's struggle for independence from Mexico. The "Lone Star" can be found on the Texan state flag and on the Texan state seal. The origin of the state name, Texas, is from the word, "Tejas", which means 'friends' in the Caddo language.
Western & Atlantic Railroad #49 "Texas" is a 4-4-0 "American" type steam locomotive built in 1856 for the Western & Atlantic Railroad by Danforth, Cooke & Co.. The Texas is widely known for being involved in the Great Locomotive Chase during the American Civil War as the engine that successfully pursued the General locomotive after it was stolen by Union saboteurs in an attempt to ruin the Confederate rail system. The locomotive is currently preserved at the Atlanta Cyclorama building within Grant Park in Atlanta, Georgia, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It will be restored and relocated to the Atlanta History Center in 2016.
The Texas was built in October 1856 for the Western & Atlantic Railroad by locomotive manufacturer Danforth, Cooke and Company in Paterson, New Jersey. It was subsequently shipped from Paterson to the Port of Savannah, traveled the Georgia Rail Road & Banking Company and Macon & Western Railroad, before finally being delivered to the W&A headquarters in Atlanta that same year.
Texas is an American daytime soap opera which aired on NBC from August 4, 1980, until December 31, 1982, sponsored and produced by Procter & Gamble Productions at NBC Studios in Brooklyn, New York City. It is a spinoff of Another World, co-created by head writers John William Corrington, Joyce Hooper Corrington, and executive producer Paul Rauch of Another World. Rauch would hold the title of executive producer for the parent series and its spin-off until 1981.
The debut episode featured Iris Cory Bancroft on a plane, leaving Houston after visiting her son Dennis, who had relocated to Texas with his new love to open an art gallery. During her sojourn, she reconnected with her first love, self-made millionaire Alex Wheeler. Alex is determined not to let the past repeat itself and lose her again. He arranges the Bay City-bound jet airliner, which Iris is on, to return at Houston.
The first season of the series the stories centered around the daily lives of the wealthy Wheelers and Bellmans and the middle-class Marshalls, as well as their ranching and oil interests. The series would never achieve ratings success on NBC in the USA, due to numerous factors.

The official music video for Texas - I Don't Want A Lover from 1989 on YouTube in HD for the first time. Lyrics: I don't want a lover I just need a friend I don't want a lover I just need a friend You can't just leave me To face life on my own I know you don't love me no more I knew this day, it would come Even when it cuts so deep It's true I still want you But the harder I try The more I seem to lose I don't want a lover I just need a friend I've had time to recover Now that I know it wasn't love It's seems a different story When it's me who's in the wrong But you can't have it all 'Cause I'm the one who's strong I've already been burnt before Once but never again I know the time will come That's when you'll need me there I don't want a lover I just need a friend I've had time to recov...
