In 1923 a group of neighborhood parents who cared to improve the community and desired a superior educational environment for their children, banded together to organize the Garden Country Day School. The school took its name from the newly conceived garden apartment complexes built by Edward MacDougall, founder of the Queensboro Corporation, in the then-rural community of Jackson Heights.
The first classes, grades K–3, met in the Laburnum Court Apartments under the guidance of Mrs. Dorothy Gleen, Mrs. Charles Townshend, and Mrs. Josephine Wech. Two years later, in 1925, grades 4–6 were added and Mr. John Bosworth Laing became the director. In 1927 Mr. Otis Flower assumed leadership as headmaster.
It was during the administration of Otis Flower, and with the help of the Queensboro Corporation, that Garden Country Day School moved to its current location. Here Garden continued to grow, adding grades and then, in the spring of 1929, graduating its first high school class of three students. Within a few years Garden Country Day School became an independent school, with a board of trustees, under the New York State guidelines for not-for-profit schools.
Spring Garden is a small neighborhood on Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's North Side. It takes its name from Spring Garden Avenue, which follows the floor of the valley that separates the two adjacent hilltop neighborhoods of Spring Hill and Troy Hill. Like those neighborhoods, Spring Garden was initially settled by the descendants of Germans and Austrians who had immigrated from Europe to East Allegheny in Allegheny City. These initial residents of Spring Garden worked in slaughterhouses, rendering factories, and tanneries located in this valley neighborhood.
A 1974 report by Pittsburgh's Department of Urban Planning explained that "Historically, this neighborhood because of its location and convenience for
industrial expansion out of the valley floor from the East North Side, has been of mixed industrial and residential uses. Today, the industrial uses are becoming marginal due to the age and lack of room to expand. This has left mostly row type residential uses to survive along the narrow streets on
the valley floor and hillsides."
Spring Garden is a subway station on SEPTA's Broad Street Subway in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is an express station with four tracks and two island platforms. Spring Garden is the northernmost station in Center City, serving Community College of Philadelphia, the School District of Philadelphia Building, the Inquirer Building (home of Philadelphia newspapers the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News), Ben Franklin High School and miscellaneous office buildings, restaurants, and clubs. The Philadelphia Museum of Art is ten blocks west of the station while the Northern Liberties neighborhood lies approximately eight blocks east. Near this station is Masterman Laboratory & Demonstration School. There are numerous restaurants and shops nearby which makes this a very busy station.
Spring Garden station is the seventh busiest station on the Broad Street Line, with 10,000 riders a day.
#2 is the second solo record from German singer-songwriter Thees Uhlmann released on Uhlmann's own Grand Hotel van Cleef Records. The album was produced by Tobian Kuhn. Of the album's production, Uhlmann stated that he often would write the first lyrics of a song and wait for Kuhn's reaction. Once satisfied, they would continue the rest of the piece. The album was a critical and commercial success in Uhlmann's native Germany, reaching #2 on the German Albums Chart.
Track listing
All lyrics written by Thees Uhlmann, all music composed by Uhlmann and Tobias Kuhn.
No.2 was an American indie rock band that originated in Portland, Oregon in 1996 and consisting of Neil Gust (guitar and vocals), Gilly Ann Hanner (bass, backing vocals; later to be replaced by Jim Talstra) and Paul Pulvirenti (drums).
History
No.2 was formed by frontman Neil Gust after the breakup of Heatmiser. The band's name is a reference to the fact that this was Neil Gust's second band with Virgin Records:
The band quickly picked up where Heatmiser left off, with songs on their debut album No Memory that echoed the sound and feel of Mic City Sons. No Memory quickly earned the band praise for its melodic hooks and finely crafted songs. No.2 began small, with Neil Gust asking a few friends to help record some material for a new album.
The band's first release, a 7" vinyl called "Allistair Chestnut", was released in mid-1999. The A-side, titled "Allistair Chestnut", is a song about falling for someone who is more interested in 'playing the field' than a relationship. The band's first full album, No Memory, was released within months of the "Allistair Chestnut" 7". A full tour followed, mostly opening for former bandmate Sam Coomes's band Quasi. A second album, What Does Good Luck Bring? followed in 2002.

My name is Claus Dalby, and I live in Risskov on the outskirts of Aarhus in Denmark. To date, I have written about 30 books on flowers and gardens in Danish, and my garden has been featured on many TV shows. In March 2022 my first book in English will be available. I consider my home (built in1908), and its garden with its neighboring wood, as my sanctuary. When I started gardening in 1996, there was just a large lawn covering approximately 1 acre (4,000 square meters), but today the grass is long gone - replaced by 15 hedged rooms with varying colors and moods. Additionally, one of my great passions is growing in pots, arranged to create spectacular container gardens, which I will share quite a bit about on this channel. Decor and creating moods have always interested me - both outside and inside - and I love to use the flowers from my garden for bouquets and to inspire other crafts that create a sense of hygge.

Hallo hallo, I'm back and it's such a pleasure.
I have had a busy spring and I'm sorry that I haven't had time to post here since last year. But I have many plans for the coming season and I'm looking forward to talk about them here on my YouTube-channel.
In early spring my english book 'Containers in the garden' were published and it were sold out very fast. But I'm pleased to tell that a new print will be ready by mid May.
If you would like to preorder, you can for example do it at Amazon, see https://www.amazon.com/Containers-Garden-Claus-Dalby/dp/0760374651/ref=sr_1_1?qid=1650805896&refinements=p_27%3AClaus+Dalby&s=books&sr=1-1

Hi Gardeners! Show of hands who is so excited for the Spring garden season!? Me me me!
This video, oh, I love it. I went out every day over the past 2 weeks and took little clips and snippets of what things were looking and sounding like. The birds right now are wide away and loving life. As the video progresses, it shows the garden coming alive, and that just makes me so happy. I hope you enjoy it!
Huge thanks to Colorblends for this collaboration. Every beautiful bulb in the garden is from them. I'm a long time customer, and I'm never disappointed in the quality and display every year. Always a thrill to me! Please be sure to get your orders in early for Fall bulb planting season.
http://www.colorblends.com
The front garden display consists of the Colorblends "Pillow Talk" tulips and "Oh Pairs" Daffodil blend. Along the boxwood path and lamp post I planted the "Aladdin’s Carpet" blend. Definitely plan on more of that, and planting more directly in the lawn next year for a free and wild look, love it!
In the back garden I have tons of Summer allium still hiding. The daffodils along the fence are the "The Top 40" blend. And over by the bird bath I have a wonderful mix of snowdrops (already faded, those are one of the first signs of Spring) and then the Fritillaria Meleagris is AKA "Snake's Head", with the purple and white checkered blooms. I always admire seeing them English gardens and it was a first for me. I love them!
My dear friend Brandon Lark Roberts has just posted a tour today of his beautiful Colorblends in his garden. He is based in Tennessee and has a fantastic and unique style. It's so fun to see different gardeners, in different zones and their Spring gardens coming alive. So inspiring and makes for so many good ideas to try!

Welcome to Garden International School!
We are proud of the holistically shaped programme we offer our students, bringing first-class teaching and learning, academic mentoring, pastoral care and wider learning opportunities and skill to all our students.
Our students experience rich and authentic learning experiences to help cultivate innate talents and provide opportunities to pursue interests and passions, both inside and outside of the classroom, and strive for excellence; all in the spirit of respect, integrity, and well-being.
Garden School | Jackson Heights, Queens, New York
At Garden School, we believe that an exceptional education is a right, not a privilege. We provide an excellent academic choice that offers a realistic option for families in the New York metropolitan area. Talk to us about our unique approach and the value we provide for both students and parents.
Small by Design:
Students thrive in small classrooms because they receive a greater degree of individual attention. That’s the key advantage of private school education: higher academic standards combined with an
environment conducive to scholastic excellence.
Learning is Personal:
At Garden School, we know personalized attention helps realize academic potential. We believe in recognizing students for who they are, and in cultivating their unique identity to better awaken intellectual curiosity and inspire independent thinking. The right education makes a difference not only in grades and test scores; it
makes a difference for life.
We are Diversity:
Garden School is situated in the center of the most diverse community in the United States, in the most diverse borough in New York City. Our student body reflects our surroundings and encourages a healthy and constructive cultural exchange based on cooperation, collaboration and mutual understanding.
Families as Partners:
Almost 100 years ago, Garden School was founded by a local group of parents seeking a superior academic education for their children. In that tradition, parents remain integral to Garden School’s success in bringing the mission of the school to life. The more collaborative we are, the more cohesive and authentic our students’ education will be.
Start your child on the path to excellence.

Spring gardening can be overwhelming. The garden planning that goes into it is a LOT, so here are 50 plants I'm planning to grow in MY garden. Hope this gives you some ideas and inspiration as you shop for seeds and start seeds this year!

A look around the garden in late April. All of the fruit trees are covered in blossom so I wanted to make a garden tour. The late tulips and daffodils are flowering now, and we are growing seedlings on for our vegetable plot and allotment. Lots to look forward to in the coming months.
